Storytelling and Communications Lead

COMMISSION 127

Altamonte Springs, FL โ€ข On-site

$26K - $27K/yr

Full-time

Medical, Retirement, PTO

Posted 14 days ago

Job description

Commission 127 (C127) strengthens and supports foster and adoptive families by creating community and equipping churches to launch and lead Family Advocacy Ministries. We believe kids belong in families, and families need the support of a caring community. Through church partnerships, wrap-around care, caregiver support, training, events, storytelling, and the Center for Care & Calling, C127 helps mobilize people to care for vulnerable children and the families who welcome them.
Position Overview: The Communications & Storytelling Lead owns and executes C127’s communications strategy across social media, email, website, communication, storytelling, campaigns, events, and brand presence.
This person is both a strategist and a doer — developing the plan, collecting the stories, creating the content, managing the platforms, and ensuring every communication reflects C127’s mission, vision, values, and voice.
This role helps people understand the need, see the impact, and take their next step in caring for vulnerable children and the families who serve them.
What You’ll Do
Marketing & Growth Strategy

  • Develop and lead a marketing strategy that grows awareness, engagement, and community action.
  • Align marketing efforts with C127’s priorities, including church partnerships, caregiver support, donor development, and the Center for Care & Calling.
  • Identify opportunities to grow C127’s reach, influence, and brand presence locally and beyond.
Storytelling & Brand
  • Shape and steward the voice and narrative of C127.
  • Partner with internal teams to highlight stories of families, churches, volunteers, donors, and community impact.
  • Maintain brand consistency and excellence across all communication.
  • Tell the story of the Center for Care & Calling, including the Vulnerable Child Experience, Community Room, Storytelling Room, Cereset, and caregiver care spaces.
Communications & Campaign Leadership
  • Oversee external communications, including social media, LinkedIn, email newsletters, website updates, and digital media.
  • Use HubSpot, Squarespace, Google Workspace, and other digital tools to organize communication, segment audiences, and track engagement.
  • Keep communication assets, photos, videos, stories, and templates organized and accessible.
  • Lead campaigns that connect storytelling to clear calls to action, such as volunteer, attend, give, or partner.
  • Work with the staff copywriter to compose and refine email communications.
Social & Content Engine
  • Lead C127’s social media strategy across Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
  • Create content that translates foster care realities into engaging, mission-centered digital storytelling.
  • Build repeatable content formats for stories, events, campaigns, education, donor engagement, and church partnerships.
  • Direct on-site content capture at events, experiences, and key moments.
  • Identify and manage creator partnerships and influencer collaborations as appropriate.
Team & Systems Leadership
  • Utilize C127’s contracted filmmaker and in-house recording studio.
  • Manage the budget for a contracted graphic designer.
  • Build and manage freelance, volunteer, or future in-house marketing contributors.
  • Establish systems, workflows, and tools to scale content creation and distribution.
  • Stay current on communication trends and lead innovation in modern, creator-driven marketing.
What We’re Looking For
Strong writing, editing, and storytelling ability.
  • Experience creating social media, email, website, and campaign content.
  • Ability to personally execute content, not just manage strategy.
  • Photography and basic video production ability.
  • Familiarity with HubSpot, Squarespace, Google Workspace, social media tools, and email marketing platforms.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • A heart for vulnerable children, foster and adoptive families, and the local church.
  • Wisdom and sensitivity in telling stories involving children, trauma, foster care, adoption, and family hardship.
  • Ability to collaborate well with staff, churches, donors, caregivers, volunteers, and outside creatives.
  • Strategic thinker with strong execution and project management skills
Enjoy a competitive benefits package that supports your health and well-being, including employer-paid health share coverage, a retirement plan with employer matching, paid time off and holidays, and counseling support.
