Role: Database Developer
Location: Lenexa, KS
 
The Data Platforms team within the Data, CRM & Integration department urgently seeks a skilled Database Developer to join our client’s Lenexa office. This 3–6-month contract role, with potential for extension, focuses on maintaining and enhancing critical data systems. The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of experience and must work on-site in Lenexa.
 
Key Responsibilities:
•               Develop, maintain, and enhance SSIS jobs and SQL stored procedures.
•               Manage and update database schemas for on-premises SQL Server Data Warehouse and Azure-based Data Marts.
•               Monitor overnight jobs, troubleshoot, and resolve issues promptly.
•               Perform DBA tasks, including performance management, patching, and application upgrades for the Data Warehouse and OLTP SQL Server databases.
•               Optionally, contribute to SSRS Reports and Power BI development (preferred but not required).
 
Core Requirements:
•               7+ years of experience as a Database Developer.
•               Expertise in Microsoft SQL Server, SSIS, and SQL.
•               Experience maintaining database schemas and monitoring data processes.
•               Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work on-site in Lenexa.
•               DBA experience with SQL Server performance management, patching, and upgrades.
•               Familiarity with SSRS Reports and Power BI (optional).
 
  • Deep SSIS experience (hands-on ETL build + production troubleshooting of inherited code).
  • Strong T-SQL for ETL purposes (SPs, views, debugging data issues).
  • Production problem-solving mindset; can diagnose file/ingest/timing/data quality issues quickly.
  • Comfortable with SQL Agent job orchestration and job failure triage.
  • On-site in Lenexa (local or able to relocate immediately).  Overnight on-call every other week for troubleshooting.
  • Communication: Can clarify requirements with managers, ask the right questions, and give crisp status.
  • Production DBA experience with database backups & recovery, performance tuning, monitoring, and some basic knowledge of infrastructure operations related to a DBA function such as storage and networking.
