Job Title: SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) – Migration to SQL Server 2022 (AWS Environment)
Location: Piscataway, NJ (Hybrid)
Duration: 12 months

Job Type: W2 conttract

Overview:
We are seeking an experienced SQL Server DBA to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience in managing SQL Server environments across multiple versions and a proven track record of successful migrations to SQL Server 2022. You will be responsible for maintaining, optimizing, and migrating our SQL databases to ensure high availability, security, and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and support SQL Server environments across various versions.
  • Lead and execute database migration projects, including assessments, planning, testing, and implementation of migrations to SQL Server 2022.
  • Ensure database performance, stability, and security.
  • Develop and implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Monitor SQL Server performance and troubleshoot issues proactively.
  • Automate routine tasks using scripts and tools.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and tune SQL Server performance in an AWS environment.
  • Develop automation scripts (PowerShell, AWS CLI) for deployment, backup, maintenance, and monitoring processes.
  • Ensure security best practices for database access, data encryption, and compliance in AWS.
  • Collaborate with development teams to optimize database queries and schema design.
  • Maintain documentation of database configurations, policies, and procedures.
  • Stay current with industry best practices and SQL Server feature set enhancements.
  • Stay abreast of new features in SQL Server 2022 and AWS cloud services.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience with SQL Server versions (2008, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019, and 2022).
  • Proven experience leading or executing database migrations to SQL Server 2022.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL Server installation, configuration, and management.
  • Experience with performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization.
  • Familiarity with SQL Server clustering, Always On Availability Groups, and replication.
