Job Title: SQL / Progress Database Administrator (DBA)

Job Summary

The SQL / Progress Database Administrator (DBA) supports ISCorp’s secure private cloud infrastructure and application hosting environments with a primary focus on database platforms. This position is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, optimization, and monitoring of database systems that support ISCorp’s hosted services and internal operations. The DBA ensures the reliability, performance, integrity, and security of database environments while providing exceptional customer service to both internal users and external clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain Microsoft SQL Server and Progress OpenEdge database environments across production and development systems.
  • Install, configure, and upgrade Progress OpenEdge landscapes across Linux and Windows operating systems.
  • Perform routine database maintenance tasks including re-indexing, index rebuilds, integrity checks, and dump and load operations.
  • Design, implement, and maintain backup and disaster recovery strategies, including roll-forward recovery using after-imaging.
  • Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and perform tuning to optimize speed, reliability, and storage efficiency.
  • Support and maintain Windows Server and Linux operating systems hosting database environments.
  • Manage database security, access controls, and compliance with information security best practices.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell, Bash, or other scripting tools to streamline database operations.
  • Configure and support database integrations with application servers and hosting platforms (IIS, Tomcat, etc.).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database, system, and application performance issues.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date technical documentation for database configurations, processes, and recovery procedures.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and respond to database and system alerts as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience administering SQL Server and/or Progress OpenEdge databases in enterprise environments.
  • Deep knowledge of Progress OpenEdge (versions 11.x, 12.x, or 13.x) and associated tools such as OpenEdge Explorer and OpenEdge Management.
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows Server and/or Linux (RHEL) operating systems supporting database platforms.
  • Experience with database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning and execution.
  • Proficiency in database performance tuning, indexing strategies, and query optimization.
  • Experience with scripting and automation (PowerShell, Bash, or equivalent).
  • Strong documentation, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with hybrid environments integrating SQL Server and Progress OpenEdge.
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud, particularly database hosting services.
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V) in database-hosting environments.
