Job description

Federal Financial Reporting Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Federal Financial Reporting Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in federal financial accounting and reporting and will be capable of operating independently in complex environments while providing technical leadership and oversight.

What will you do in this role:
  • Lead the preparation of initial draft financial statements for a governmental client
  • Analyze large volumes of accounting transactions within computerized accounting systems with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Research variances, identify root causes, and prepare corrective accounting entries in accordance with federal accounting principles and GAAP, with limited supervision
  • Analyze and reconcile the general ledger to subsidiary ledgers (e.g., cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, undelivered orders, property)
  • Perform reconciliations between two or more data sources, including feeder systems such as travel, payroll, overseas systems, and other external data feeds
  • Complete USSGL fund analytics, including budgetary-to-proprietary account tie-points
  • Utilize SQL queries to research abnormal balances at the trial balance level and recommend corrective actions
  • Analyze transactions, recommend accrual methodologies, and validate accrued amounts and assumptions for areas such as domestic invoices, overseas payments, and travel
  • Provide support for annual financial statement audits and other financial-related audits and reviews
  • Locate, review, and analyze financial documentation within large core accounting systems and accounting data warehouses
  • Prepare and review Prepared-By-Client (PBC) items, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and quality control
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight to staff supporting accounting and reporting activities
Your Qualifications:
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience including at least 3 years of experience with Federal Financial Accounting and Reporting and general ledger operations
  • Knowledge of United States Standard General Ledger (USSGL), Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), as set forth by the Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board (FASAB), and standards of financial accounting established by the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB)
  • Eligible to sit for the CPA examination
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in complex federal accounting environments
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
