AI Engineer (Remote or Memphis-based Preferred)

Overview
We're hiring a skilled AI Engineer to join an enterprise-scale organization focused on developing ethical, production-grade AI solutions. This long-term contract opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on implementation, working in cross-functional teams, and shaping the way AI is applied to real-world challenges. While this role is remote-friendly, local candidates will be given preference due to occasional onsite collaboration needs.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with AI architects, infrastructure teams, and engineers to develop and deploy scalable AI models and systems
  • Design and maintain AI data pipelines and orchestration systems with an emphasis on reliability, performance, and security
  • Build tools and processes for data synthesis, data preparation, and generation of training datasets
  • Monitor deployed AI models and implement continuous improvement strategies based on feedback and performance metrics
  • Document AI systems and provide expert support across the organization
  • Apply AI governance principles to ensure models are transparent, ethical, and auditable

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as an AI Engineer, Data Engineer, or similar role focused on customer-facing, production-level AI and data systems
  • Proficiency in Python or Java and hands-on familiarity with AI/ML libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or LangChain
  • Experience with prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and scalable AI design patterns
  • Production deployment experience on major cloud platforms (Azure and/or AWS strongly preferred)
  • Solid understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and version control systems
  • Familiarity with vector databases, embeddings, and search indexing strategies
