Job description

SITEC is seeking a Senior SQL Database Administrator to support lifecycle sustainment activities for commercial and custom-developed education, learning, and training applications. This role will support a fast-paced technical team responsible for maintaining secure, reliable, and high-performing database environments across on-premises and cloud-based infrastructures.

The ideal candidate is a self-motivated DBA with strong SQL Server experience, a solid understanding of database security and performance optimization, and the ability to support mission-critical systems in a secure DoD environment.

Responsibilities

The Senior SQL Database Administrator will maintain the integrity, security, and availability of enterprise database systems while supporting ongoing operations, modernization, and sustainment activities. Responsibilities include database administration, performance tuning, patching, backup and recovery, vulnerability remediation, and implementation of database security controls.

This position will also support database lifecycle activities, including installation, configuration, monitoring, upgrades, automation, and optimization of database systems. The DBA will work with SQL Server and related database technologies while helping improve system reliability, query performance, data integrity, and overall operational efficiency.

Key Duties
  • Administer, maintain, and support Microsoft SQL Server database environments.
  • Perform database patching, upgrades, backups, restores, and routine maintenance.
  • Support vulnerability remediation and IAVA compliance reporting.
  • Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize queries, indexes, and database structures.
  • Implement and manage database security, including access controls, permissions, roles, and encryption standards.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using T-SQL and PowerShell.
  • Support cloud-hosted database solutions using AWS services such as RDS, EC2, Lambda, and CloudFormation.
  • Assist with infrastructure automation using tools such as Ansible and Terraform.
  • Evaluate and support current and emerging DBMS tools, strategies, and technologies.
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and 10 years of DBA experience; or 14 years of DBA experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Strong experience administering SQL Server databases.
  • Experience with database implementation, performance tuning, data modeling, and database security.
  • DoD 8570 compliance with IAT Level I.
  • Ability to work core hours of Monday-Friday, 10:00 AM-2:00 PM.

  • Experience with PowerShell scripting.
