A SQL DBA, or SQL Database Administrator, is a professional responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, and securing SQL databases. They ensure databases are available, perform backups and restores, optimize performance, and troubleshoot issues. SQL DBAs also manage user access and permissions, implement security measures, and often play a key role in disaster recovery planning. Their work helps ensure that data is stored efficiently and remains accessible and safe for organizations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a SQL DBA, and why are they important?

To thrive as a SQL DBA, you need a solid understanding of database administration, performance tuning, backup and recovery, and T-SQL, typically backed by a degree in computer science or a related field.
