About the Role

Blue Rose Consulting Group is seeking an experienced CMDB Implementation Specialist to provide enterprise-scale configuration management expertise in support of business-driven CMDB planning, organizational alignment, Configuration Item (CI) modeling, governance, and best-practice implementation.

The CMDB Implementation Specialist will work across Application Owners, IT Operations, Security, Architects, Platform Administrators, and other stakeholders to define CMDB requirements, establish data models and relationships, develop governance processes, support integrations, improve data quality, and drive effective CMDB adoption across the organization.

This role requires strong enterprise ITSM and CMDB experience, proficiency with ServiceNow CMDB, automated discovery, and CSDM, and the ability to communicate effectively between business and technical teams.

Job ResponsibilitiesRequirements & Analysis
  • Elicit stakeholder needs across Application Owners, IT Operations, Security, and other stakeholder groups.
  • Identify required Configuration Items (CIs), critical attributes, and inter-CI relationships.
  • Document business requirements into clear functional and non-functional artifacts, including use cases, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Analyze existing data sources and identify gaps, inconsistencies, and migration challenges associated with moving data into the CMDB.
  • Define CMDB classes and attributes, including servers, applications, databases, enumeration values, and ownership fields.
  • Work with Architects and Platform Administrators to establish appropriate CMDB structures.
  • Establish relationships such as โ€œruns on,โ€ โ€œconnects to,โ€ and โ€œis composed ofโ€ to accurately represent the environment.
  • Normalize and standardize data to enforce CMDB consistency.
Process Definition & Integration
  • Map CMDB-related processes, including Incident, Change, Problem, and Asset Management, to ensure the CMDB effectively supports these workflows.
  • Define data governance policies for data ownership, data entry, updates, and data-quality assurance.
  • Specify integration requirements with discovery tools, ticketing systems, and monitoring platforms.
  • Support correct and automated data flows into the CMDB.
Data Quality, Validation & Testing
  • Define data-quality rules and metrics to measure accuracy and completeness.
  • Establish monitoring and remediation processes for CMDB data quality.
  • Plan and conduct User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with business users.
  • Design test cases to validate functional requirements and expected value.
Reporting & KPIs
  • Identify reporting requirements and dashboards that provide environment insights, decision support, and compliance monitoring.
  • Define CMDB-enabled Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Support operational measurement using metrics such as Mean Time to Resolution (MTTR) and change success rates.
Training, Adoption & Ongoing Support
  • Develop training materials and documentation for CMDB user groups.
  • Deliver training sessions to support adoption and user proficiency.
  • Provide ongoing support and clarification regarding CMDB functionality and data usage.
Communication & Stakeholder Management
  • Facilitate workshops to gather requirements, resolve conflicts, and build consensus.
  • Lead stakeholder discussions and cross-team alignment sessions.
  • Translate between business and technical teams to ensure concepts, requirements, and outcomes are clearly understood across groups.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • 10 years of overall information technology experience.
  • 5+ years of enterprise ITSM, CMDB, and/or Configuration Management experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in:
    • CMDB planning
    • CMDB modeling
    • CMDB governance
    • Data-quality frameworks
    • Designing CI classes and relationships
    • CI lifecycle management for complex organizations
  • Ability to lead workshops, stakeholder discussions, and cross-team alignment sessions.
  • Strong understanding of service mapping principles and organizational CMDB ownership models.
  • Proficiency with:
    • ServiceNow CMDB
    • Automated Discovery
    • CSDM
  • Excellent analytical, communication, documentation, facilitation, and standards-development capabilities.
  • Experience working within large, federated, or regulated environments.
  • Able to obtain Customs Border Protection Background Investigation
