Job description

Our associates are expert quality assurance professionals with broad experience and local knowledge who can represent our clients on-demand and on-site faster than our competitors.
 

We're actively seeking an experienced Quality Mechanical Inspector to support our team at a supplier site in Enfield, CT. This is a full-time, 6-month contract opportunity working Monday through Friday, with the potential for extension.

Not located in Connecticut? No problem. We welcome qualified candidates from across the U.S. who are willing to travel or temporarily relocate for the assignment. SQA provides travel assistance and lodging for the duration of the contract, making this an excellent opportunity for experienced inspectors who are open to a travel assignment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform visual, physical, and dimensional inspections of machined parts, including incoming, in-process, and final inspections
  • Inspect parts against engineering drawings, specifications, and inspection plans to verify conformance
  • Perform inspections of critical features and witness inspections as required
  • Verify that the appropriate inspection methods and measurement equipment are being used based on drawing requirements
  • Review and validate inspection plans and supporting quality documentation
  • Compile final inspection sign-off sheets and inspection packages
  • Identify and document non-conformances (NCRs) and submit findings for customer disposition
  • Review and validate justification for features or parts not inspected during final inspection
  • Accurately document and maintain inspection results within the Quality Management System (QMS)
Required Qualifications:
  • Hands-on experience performing mechanical and dimensional inspections
  • Working knowledge of AS9102 First Article Inspection (FAI) requirements
  • Experience reviewing Certificates of Conformance (CoCs) and other quality documentation
  • Working knowledge of GD&T and dimensional inspection methods
  • Proficiency with precision measurement tools and inspection equipment, such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and indicators
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and tolerances
  • Experience following inspection plans, procedures, and acceptance criteria
  • Ability to accurately document inspection results and work within an established Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and document non-conformances
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Current or previous GD&T certification in accordance with ASME Y14.5
  • High school diploma, GED, or technical school diploma; an engineering or related technical degree is a plus
  • Knowledge of mechanical contract manufacturing and Lean manufacturing principles
  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience, including at least 2 years of hands-on mechanical inspection experience
$30 - $34 an hour
Relocation assistance available. SQA will cover approved travel and lodging expenses for qualified candidates relocating or traveling to support this 6-month onsite assignment in Enfield, CT.
