Job description

We are seeking a motivated and dependable Fire Sprinkler Service & Inspection Technician – Backflow Certified to join our team. This position is responsible for performing inspections, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs for fire sprinkler systems and related fire protection equipment. The technician will also conduct certified backflow prevention assembly testing in accordance with NFPA standards, local regulations, and customer requirements.

This role involves conducting annual, semi-annual, quarterly, three - and five-year inspections at customer locations throughout South Dakota and surrounding states. Occasional overnight travel is required, along with participation in an on-call rotation for after-hours emergency service calls.

Job Requirements

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Current Certified Backflow Tester License (required)
  • Fire sprinkler inspection and service experience (preferred)
  • Knowledge of NFPA codes and fire protection systems (preferred)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to travel overnight when required
  • Ability to work extended hours, evenings, and weekends when necessary

Essential Job Functions

  • Perform inspections, testing, and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems
  • Conduct certified backflow prevention assembly testing and documentation
  • Troubleshoot and repair deficiencies found during inspections
  • Complete annual, quarterly, semi-annual, and five-year inspections
  • Accurately document inspection results and service reports
  • Communicate inspection findings and recommendations to customers
  • Ensure compliance with NFPA standards, local codes, and company procedures

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds or higher

  • Ability to climb ladders and work at elevated heights

  • Ability to work in carrying weather conditions and environments

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and crawl for extended periods

  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, lifts, and testing equipment
