Broadcast Production Internship, Watertown Shamrocks (NAHL)
The Watertown Shamrocks of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are looking to add one to two broadcast production interns to our production team for the 2026-27 season. The right candidates will be looking to develop their production skills while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
The broadcast production interns will have the opportunity to work with the current staff to produce and assist in various areas of our gameday production team, including but not limited to - replay assistant, camera operations, technical directing, graphics and overlay creation, and producing. Rather than filling a fixed position, we are seeking high potential individuals whose skills and interests will help define the role.
The ideal candidate will be either currently enrolled in or recently graduated from college studying a related field. The student may or may not choose to seek college credit for this internship; the Shamrocks will work with the student's school to ensure the internship works within their requirements for credit if so desired.
Roles to be Filled (Not limited to just the below options)
โ€ข Director/TD - Operate and manage video switcher; communicate with production staff and camera operators; call for camera angles, videos, graphics, audio, etc. Follows the scripted rundown that is provided day-of from the Director of Broadcasting while also keeping up with broadcasted game action. Previous experience in camera operating, technical directing, sports production, in-house production, audio/video equipment, technical troubleshooting, and extensive knowledge of hockey is a plus but is not required.
โ€ข Replay - Controls all playback during the game. Captures various camera angles for playback during broadcast and in-house viewing. Responsible for editing plays as they happen for the director to use on-air as well as exporting highlights/promotional material following proper procedure. Previous replay operations experience, sports and in-house production experience, technical troubleshooting, and extensive knowledge of hockey is a plus but is not required.
โ€ข Graphics and Overlay Creation - Works alongside production team to create graphic templates and overlays to be used for social media and live broadcast production. Follows the scripted rundown that is provided from the Director of Broadcasting to prepare any graphic needs on gameday..
โ€ข Work alongside Director of Broadcasting and media team during the week to curate ideas for gameday productions.
โ€ข Depending on role and capabilities, work with media team to produce content for social media and broadcasts for both home and away games.
โ€ข All other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
โ€ข Familiarity with operating a TriCaster, graphics overlay systems, Open Broadcasting Software (OBS) and/or Daktronics Show Control Studio is a plus but is not required. We can teach you!
โ€ข Excellent communication and organizational skills.
โ€ข Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
โ€ข Ability to adapt and react on the fly during a live-sporting event.
โ€ข Maintains a calm demeanor and works well under pressure in unexpected circumstances.
โ€ข Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, if required.
