Child Care Specialist


Job Title: Child Care Specialist Reports To: Lead Childcare Specialist, Assistant Childcare Manager and Childcare Manager Classification: Paraprofessional (Clerical/Teacher Assistant) Wage/Hour Status: Non-exempt Days: 191 Salary: See Compensation Plan for Paraprofessional/Administrative Support Staff, Pay Grade 201 Contract: None Date Revised: 11/15/2023 Primary Purpose: Perform as an assistant in the classroom and work as a team member with the Lead Childcare Specialist. Qualifications/Skills:

Education/Certification:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Additional requirements from Texas Department of Regulatory Services and Protective Services.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledge and understanding of Minimum Standards Guidelines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.

Experience:

  • Acceptable experience with children.
  • Teaching Experience in an Early Childhood Licensed Childcare Center.
Major Duties and
Responsibilities:

Instructional Support:

  • Assist in daily lessons with cooperation for the Lead Childcare Specialist.
  • Assist in supervising of the classroom learning activities and playground activities of all children.
  • Assume responsibility of the Lead Specialist when person is absent for classroom.

Student Management:

  • Interactive with children in a nurturing, positive manner at all times.
  • Assist in supervising children's activities with special attention to each child's safety.

Other:

  • Perform classroom maintenance duties.
  • Perform any additional task or related duties delegated during working hours by Lead Specialist, Assistant Manager or Childcare Manager.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Mental Demands:

  • Maintain emotional control under stress.
  • Work with frequent interruptions.
  • This position requires regular in-person interaction with the public.

Physical Demands:

  • Repetitive hand motions.
  • Prolonged use of the computer.
  • Frequent sitting, stooping, bending, pushing and pulling.
  • Moving small stacks of textbooks, boxes, equipment and other campus equipment.
