Support Specialist

 
Job Title: Support Specialist Reports To: Building Principal Classification: Paraprofessional (Clerical/Teacher Assistant) Wage/Hour Status: Non-exempt Days: 195 Salary: See Compensation Plan for Paraprofessional/Administrative Support Staff, Pay Grade 202 Contract: None Date Revised: 11/15/2023 Primary Purpose: Responsible for performing receptionist and clerical duties as related to the campus administrative offices. Qualifications/Skills: Education/Certification:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Minimum Assessment Standard: Broad knowledge of MS Word.
  • File maintenance skills
  • Effective organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to use personal computer and software.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish (verbal and written) preferred.
Experience:
  • Previous office experience preferred.
Major Duties and
Responsibilities:
Communication/Reception and Phones:
  • Respond to inquiries from patrons and staff.
  • Serve as receptionist.
  • Direct calls and visitors.
  • Refer crisis calls to proper personnel.
Clerical Support:
  • Assist in preparation for various reports, records and correspondence.
  • Assist with various office duties; filing, copying materials and typing.
Other:
  • Participate in cross-training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory
Responsibilities:
None Equipment Used: Computer and various office equipment. Working Conditions: Mental Demands:
  • Maintain emotional control under stress.
  • Work with frequent interruptions.
  • This position requires regular in-person interaction with the public.
Physical Demands:
  • Repetitive hand motions.
  • Prolonged use of the computer.
  • Frequent sitting, stooping, bending, pushing and pulling.
  • Moving small stacks of textbooks, boxes, equipment and other campus equipment.
