What are some common challenges faced by Springboard Diving Coaches, and how can they effectively support athletes in overcoming them?

Springboard Diving Coaches often encounter challenges such as helping athletes overcome fear, perfecting technical form, and building mental resilience for competition. Collaborating closely with athletes, trainers, and sometimes sports psychologists, coaches can help divers set achievable goals, track progress, and develop the confidence needed to perform under pressure.

What is the difference between Spring Board Diving vs Platform Diving?

AspectSpring Board DivingPlatform Diving
Required CredentialsTypically high school or college-level training, certifications varySimilar certifications, often with advanced training
Work EnvironmentIndoor or outdoor pools with springboards, often in schools or aquatic centersIndoor or outdoor pools with fixed platforms, used in competitions and training
Employer & Industry UsageSchools, aquatic clubs, Olympic training centersCompetitive diving events, Olympic training centers, aquatic facilities

Spring Board Diving and Platform Diving both require similar certifications and are performed in aquatic environments, but they differ mainly in equipment and height. Spring board divers use a flexible board at lower heights, while platform divers perform from fixed platforms at higher levels. Both roles are essential in competitive diving and share similar training and work settings.

What are Spring Board Divers?

Spring board divers are athletes who perform acrobatic jumps and maneuvers from a flexible diving board, usually placed 1 meter or 3 meters above a pool. Using the spring of the board, divers gain height and execute twists, somersaults, and other complex movements before entering the water. Spring board diving is both an individual and synchronized sport, judged on the difficulty and execution of each dive. It is featured in competitions from local meets to the Olympic Games.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Springboard Diving Coach, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Springboard Diving Coach, you generally need a solid background in competitive diving, knowledge of biomechanics, and relevant coaching certifications. Familiarity with video analysis tools, diving boards and pool regulations, as well as safety protocols, is typically required. Strong communication, motivational skills, and the ability to provide constructive feedback help athletes improve and stay motivated. These skills are crucial for ensuring athlete safety, optimizing performance, and fostering a positive training environment.

VP, Technology

About Amplifire

Amplifire is a rapid-growth, private equity-backed company transforming how people learn and retain knowledge. Our platform applies breakthroughs in brain science and AI to detect and correct knowledge gaps—helping people master learning faster, retain knowledge longer, and perform better in their jobs. We serve high-stakes industries including healthcare, accounting, professional services, government, and education—where better learning directly improves outcomes.

The Role

We’re hiring a VP, Technology to lead, build, and transform how software is created at Amplifire in an AI-first environment.

This is a hands-on leadership role for an executive who can set technical direction while also diving into systems, architecture, engineering practices, and operations. The organization is at an important stage of scaling platform capabilities, maturing engineering processes, and expanding the use of AI across the software development lifecycle and in the product platform.

You will own the Technology organization end-to-end, including Engineering, DevOps, QA, and Information Security. You will be responsible for how teams are structured and how systems are designed, built, deployed, and maintained in production. Partnering closely with Product and executive leadership, you will translate company strategy into clear technical direction and reliable execution.

AI is central to both our product strategy and our internal engineering workflows. We are looking for a leader who can operationalize AI adoption across coding, testing, deployment, and day-to-day development processes—driving measurable improvements in how software is built and delivered.

Requirements:

What You’ll Do

Technology Org Leadership

  • Lead and evolve Engineering, DevOps, QA, and Information Security as a unified technology organization with clear ownership and accountability across teams.
  • Build scalable operating rhythms, delivery processes, and engineering standards.
  • Coach and develop technical leaders while staying engaged in critical engineering and operational challenges.
  • Communicate technical strategy, priorities, and tradeoffs effectively with executive leadership, the Board, and clients as needed.

Strategy & Architecture

  • Maintain exceptional scalability, reliability, and information security posture and cost efficiency. This is a platform with millions of active users supporting highly regulated healthcare and government enterprises.
  • Own and drive technical strategy and architecture to support Amplifire’s business goals and growth plans, including application, infrastructure, and AI systems.
  • Evaluate tradeoffs explicitly and make clear decisions that evolve shared architectural patterns.

AI Platform Engineering

  • Accelerate adoption of AI-first Engineering and DevOps practices across the organization.
  • Define practical patterns for AI-assisted development, evaluation, deployment, and iteration.
  • Embed AI into both product capabilities and internal engineering workflows, including coding, testing, debugging, and operational processes.
  • Partner with Product and Data teams to evolve AI platform strategy, RLHF, benchmarking, RAG architecture, evaluation frameworks, and machine learning capabilities.

Delivery, Operations & Security

  • Improve delivery predictability, engineering velocity, and release quality.
  • Establish modern DevOps practices, including CI/CD, observability, and infrastructure automation.
  • Define and maintain exceptional site reliability standards (uptime, latency, incident response, and recovery).
  • Drive a culture of operational excellence through proactive monitoring and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain a robust culture and infrastructure that meets the exacting needs of our clients and maintains clean FedRAMP and SOC II Type 2 certifications.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience leading and scaling high-performing Technology organizations (Engineering, DevOps, QA, and Information Security) especially in growth stage companies with enterprise clients.
  • Strong technical background with the ability to guide architecture and system design decisions.
  • Track record of delivering complex, high-impact software systems in production.
  • Experience driving organizational transformation (e.g., AI adoption, platform evolution, scaling teams).
  • Strong operational mindset with accountability for uptime, reliability, and customer experience.
  • Ability to operate through influence and clarity, not hierarchy.
  • Expertise with AI/ML systems, data platforms, and AI-assisted development practices.

Technical Environment

  • Core Application Stack: Java, Spring / Spring Boot, Tomcat, React, JavaScript, HTML/CSS
  • AI & LLM Platform: AWS Bedrock, OpenAI GPT, Anthropic Claude (Haiku, Sonnet, Opus)
  • Cloud & Data Infrastructure: AWS (Aurora PostgreSQL, S3, CloudWatch, IAM)
  • Developer Tooling & Workflow: GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, GitHub Copilot Enterprise, OpenAI Codex, Claude Code

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $200K - $230K (commensurate with experience)
  • Comprehensive benefits package
  • Flexible PTO
