Job description


Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine-Ingalls Memorial Hospital, as a Housekeeper II in the Environmental Services department. UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital has pioneered sophisticated clinical care for nearly a century while developing the area's most convenient network of comprehensive outpatient centers. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.
As a Housekeeper II, you will provide a clean, safe, attractive environment for patients, visitors and staff.
Essential Job Functions
  • Perform 10 step general cleaning procedures in all care areas Inpatient & Outpatient (including ICU, ED, Behavioral Health, Periop) and non-patient care areas.
  • Move furniture (including beds).
  • Take down blinds, curtains drapes, cubicles and rehangs.
  • Wash walls and ceilings.
  • Completes various projects related to EVS function and performs other duties assigned.
  • Performs floor stripping, refinishing, burnishing and spray buffing.
  • Vacuums carpets and performs shampooing with carpet equipment.
  • Collects general waste and recycling material and transports to pick up point or compactor/dock for disposal.
  • Collects both biohazardous waste and transports to designated pickup point.
  • Operates other floor care equipment and battery-operated machines including riding equipment.
  • Work from ladder/scaffolding and extension platforms.

Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs, bend to floor and reach above head to perform duties requiring continuous physical effort.
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks without direct supervision.
