Job Title: Spot on the Dock Front of House Staff

Job Location: 1 King St, Burlington, Vermont

Reports To: Owner, Floor Manager, Director of Operations

Position Type: Seasonal

Wage/ Salary Range: Servers & Bartenders: 7.25$/hr plus tips

Host/Support/Barbacks/ 14$/hr plus tips 

Job Overview:

As a Front of House team member, you will be responsible for creating a welcoming, efficient, and enjoyable atmosphere for guests. You will act as the primary point of contact for customers, ensuring their needs are met promptly and professionally. This includes greeting and seating guests, taking orders, serving food and drinks, and ensuring that every customer has an exceptional experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Greeting and Seating Guests:
    • Warmly welcome guests upon arrival and guide them to their tables.
    • Manage reservations and waitlists, ensuring a smooth seating process.
  • Customer Service:
    • Provide attentive, courteous, and professional service to all guests.
    • Address any guest inquiries, concerns, or special requests, ensuring satisfaction.
    • Recommend menu items, specials, and beverages based on guest preferences.
  • Order Taking and Coordination:
    • Accurately take food and drink orders from guests.
    • Communicate orders to the kitchen expeditor and bar team efficiently.
    • Ensure that orders are processed correctly and delivered in a timely manner.
  • Food and Beverage Service:
    • Serve food and beverages to guests according to established standards.
    • Ensure orders are served at the correct temperature and presented in a visually appealing way.
    • Refill drinks and ensure the dining area remains tidy throughout the guest's visit.
    • Maintain DLC certification during your tenure.
  • Team Collaboration:
    • Work closely with kitchen staff, bartenders, and other FOH team members to ensure smooth operations.
    • Assist in training new FOH staff as needed.
    • Help maintain a clean and organized FOH area.
    • Clocking in to your shift on time and ready to work. 
  • POS and Payment Processing:
    • Process customer orders and payments using Toast.
    • Handle cash and credit transactions accurately.
  • Customer Experience:
    • Ensure guests are satisfied with their meal and service throughout their visit.
    • Handle guest complaints or concerns with professionalism and resolve issues as needed.
Skills & Qualifications:
  • Previous Experience: Previous experience in a customer-facing role is preferred (e.g., server, host, bartender).
  • Communication: Excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to listen and respond to customer needs.
  • Customer-Focused: Strong focus on delivering excellent customer service and ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work well within a team and maintain a positive attitude under pressure.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong ability to multitask, manage time efficiently, and stay organized.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and carry heavy trays or items as needed.
  • Attention to Detail: Accuracy in taking orders and serving food and drinks.
