Job description

SUMMARY

The Sports Performance Associate supports the New England Revolution with on-field performance operations, strength and conditioning programming, and athlete monitoring. This role contributes to the implementation of training protocols, data collection, analysis, and daily performance department functions. Working with the Academy Sport Performance Coach and in collaboration with coaching and sports medicine staff, the Associate helps promote athlete development, optimize performance, and assists return- to play processes. The role may also support select First Team and Second Team performance activities as needed, providing additional exposure to high performance training environments.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assist in monitoring all player wellness, training load, match demands, and strength and conditioning programs to improve players' performance.
  2. Support daily warm-up activities in alignment with the needs of the Sports Performance Coach and Coaching Staff.
  3. Collaborate in designing and administering individualized pre-training activation protocols and post-training strength sessions.
  4. Design and implement on-field and gym-based training programs under the supervision of the Sports Performance Coach.
  5. Collaborate with sports medicine staff to modify and individualize training programs for injured or rehabilitating players.
  6. Test and evaluate players' physical performance and create reports for coaches and players under the guidance of the Academy Sports Performance Coach.
  7. Assist in collecting and analyzing performance data sets, including readiness, wellness, training load, fatigue monitoring, and match data.
  8. Support the Performance Staff in educating and advising athletes on nutrition, physical conditioning strategies, injury prevention, and off-season programming.
  9. Comply with all MLS medical policies, protocol, and Game Operations Manuals as well as attend all mandatory Sport Performance meetings.
  10. Special projects and assignments as business dictates.
  11. Responsible for the maintenance, creation and control of all personally identifiable information or any other information protected by any Confidentiality or Privacy Standards or Company Policies that you have access or knowledge of, including but not limited to any state or federal regulations including HIPAA.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science, Kinesiology or related field (Or in pursuance of).
  • 2-4 years of related experience.
  • Soccer experience required.
  • Experience designing training reports using Excel or Tableau (Preferred).
  • Experience using technologies such as Catapult GPS and Vald Testing System (preferred).
  • Experience implementing of strength and conditioning programs for youth level athletes.
  • Knowledge in strength training, Olympic lifts, plyometrics, speed development, conditioning, flexibility, injury prevention, nutrition, and strength and conditioning equipment.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Spanish language proficiency (preferred).
  • Flexible work schedule with the ability to work evenings, nights, weekend, and holydays if required by team schedule.
  • Ability to travel within Massachusetts on weekends, with occasional out-of-state travel opportunities.
  • Ability to work a minimum of 15 hours per week in alignment with team and training schedules.
