Job Duties:
The Department of Exercise & Sport Science at the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse is seeking applicants for a 9-month teaching position at the rank of Teaching Assistant Professor with the start date of 8/23/2027 with potential of an early start January 2027. Under general supervision of the department chair, successful candidates will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses (if applicable) and advising students. In addition to preparing for and holding classes, teaching involves maintaining currency in the content area related to the teaching assignment, evaluating students' work, assessing student outcomes, providing regular and substantive feedback on student work, maintaining appropriate records, and holding office hours. Other duties may be assigned by the chair or dean.

• Develops and designs curriculum and instructional material relevant to a course of instruction

• Contributes to the development of teaching and learning scholarly work including publications and presentations

• Contributes to the strategic development of curriculum and academic content through various mediums to ensure the integrity of the educational mission of the work unit

• Advises students on academic and career direction within a specific field of study

• Facilitates classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction, including assessment of student performance

• May supervise student employees involved in development or delivery of instruction

• Collaborates with department faculty and staff to develop teaching strategies relevant to the discipline

Required Qualifications:

• Master's Degree in a field appropriate to the needs of the department, or significant progress toward a doctorate degree, or, in rare circumstances, post-baccalaureate certification or licensure, or a baccalaureate plus experience, can be established as appropriate qualifications for the teaching position.
• Evidence of the ability to be an effective instructor.
• Evidence of clear and effective communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• At least three years of work experience in applied or clinical settings
