Job description

The YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas, established in 1885, consists of 17 branches and a destination camp - all dedicated to building healthy, confident, connected, and secure children, adults, families and communities.

  • YMCA youth sports encourage and promote healthy kids, families and communities by placing a priority on family involvement, healthy competition rather than rivalry, the value of participation over winning, team-building as well as individual development, a positive self-image and mutual respect for others.     We are currently seeking a Sports Director to work at the Semones Family YMCA, under the supervision of the Regional Sports Director, will provide support as assigned in order to ensure the effective administration of sports programs. This person will assist the Semones Sports team as assigned in the following ways:

    • Plan, organize, promote, implement, and evaluate sport programs
    • Recruit, train, supervise, evaluate and recognize part-time staff and program volunteers within accordance of policies set by the Association
    • Facilitate scheduling staff and payroll
    • Keep accurate records essential for the control, evaluation, and reporting of programs to Association, the Board of Management, and the Branch Leadership.
    • Work with the other Directors on scheduling programs for maximum use of the facilities
    • Share in the responsibility of cleanliness, maintenance, field and gym preparation and safety of equipment and facilities.

    He/she will develop and maintain timely and accurate information for Association brochures and develop additional promotional materials and social medium communication for all sports programs as needed. The Sports Director will participate in association-wide activities, as requested and assigned by the Regional Sports Director and will serve as ambassador for the YMCA, establishing and maintaining cordial relationships and collaborations with other agencies and community groups. The incumbent will oversee maintenance of equipment and inventory control of program supplies, will participate on staff committees as assigned and attend staff meetings and trainings as required. He/she will assure that all staff under the incumbents' indirect supervision in the Sports Department understand and comply with all personnel and other policies established by the Association. As a member of the professional staff, this person will share responsibility for the administration of the overall branch and will support branch Annual Campaign as assigned. He/she will perform other job-related duties as requested and necessary.
