Job Description
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Develops, organizes and implements high-quality, member-focused YMCA aquatic programs.
Primarily composed of experienced professionals requiring an understanding of a body of knowledge linked to function. Requires ability to work independently on moderately complex assignments with minimal supervision. Role is required to deliver work by interpreting and expanding on somewhat complex and diverse procedures.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent)
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience with strong organizational, communication and customer service skills

Essential Functions
  • Develops, organizes, and leads high-quality youth and adult sports programs that build healthy habits, strong character, and meaningful relationships. Creates a welcoming environment where participants, volunteers, and coaches thrive while advancing the YMCA mission of Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility.
  • Develops and manages the annual sports department budget.
  • Monitors revenue and expenses to meet budget goals.
  • Identifies opportunities to increase participation and program sustainability.
  • Expands youth sports program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans
  • Develops and grows adult sports leagues, tournaments, clinics, and recreational opportunities.
  • Evaluates community interest and launches new sports and wellness programming.
  • Creates opportunities for lifelong participation in sports and recreation.
  • Secures and schedules athletic fields and facilities (City of Brainerd and Community Ed)
  • Transports and sets up equipment for games and practices; monitors and purchases necessary sporting equipment as budget permits
  • Manages program formation from paid and financially assisted registrations
  • Organizes and conducts training and meetings for coaches- paid and volunteer
  • Develops and distributes team practice and game schedules; trains and schedules any necessary sports officials; develops and distributes sports rules, guidelines and handbooks
  • Purchases and distributes team uniforms and awards; coordinates and distributes
    team photographs
  • Organizes and conducts sports clinics or special events
  • Leads and coordinates marketing and distribution of youth sports program information with Marketing Director
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations- City of Brainerd, Brainerd United Soccer Club, Brainerd Sports Boosters, etc.
  • Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events
  • Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner
  • Compiles program statistics
  • Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
