 Job Summary

Assistant Store Manager is responsible for supporting the Store Manager in the daily business operations of retail / rental locations. Assist in supervising, mentoring and training a staff of 5-14 employees on providing exceptional service to our guests. Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager on the day-to-day functions of all store operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

         Act as Manager-on-duty in the absences of a Store Manager

         Maintains Standard Operating Procedures for managed location

         Creative a positive team environment

         Proficient in POS operations including opening/closing procedures and reporting.

         Support and lead daily operations, monitoring performance and budget including scheduling and payroll

         Maintain administrative responsibilities including training, staffing, budgeting and reporting

         Maintain daily store records for performance, sales metrics, inventory control and equipment rentals (if applicable) 

         Support in the training of employees in POS system operation, product knowledge, guest service, sales techniques and loss prevention policies and procedures  

         Provide excellent customer service, answer customer complaints or inquiries

         Monitor team performance and behavior to provide meaningful feedback and direction, providing recognition or correction action if necessary 

         Maintain store visual merchandising standards and conditions

         Maintain up-to-date product knowledge for staff

         Support in management of retail / rental inventory to prevent shrink

         Support in preparation of store retail and rental inventories

         Address staff needs and complaints

         Support and participate with leadership forums providing feedback and input on store performance, training, and continuous improvement opportunities.

         Willingness to support other departments in the Retail / Rental division.

         Know and enforce safety initiatives consistent with company guidelines.

         Supports Telluride Ski & Golf sustainability initiatives.

         Adheres to Telluride Ski & Golf policies and procedures.

         Promote, support and understand all activities and events occurring on or off mountain

         Communicate companywide messages and new information to staff

         Perform related tasks or special projects as assigned, including specialty areas like merchandising and rentals

Shoulder Season Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

         Support the rotation of the store per season

         Support other Telluride Sports rental shops in their seasonal transitions

         Support other departments in the Retail / Rental division 

Supervisory Responsibilities:        

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include supervising, mentoring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing staff complaints and resolving problems.  Assists and communicates weekly staff schedules.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:                   

Bachelor degree in related field of business, fashion, retail management; or four years minimum of retail management experience.

Language Skills:                   

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:                   

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:                    

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:                   

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Retail Point of Sale Systems, proficient in using Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint, internet search engines, basic accounting, and Adobe.

Other Qualifications:

Must possess excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently as well as basic computer knowledge:  

       Strong communication and problem-solving skills. 

       Previous experience managing or supervising employees required

       Previous experience in resort, rental and retail preferred

       Knowledge of snow-sport product and rental equipment preferred

       Experience in recreation or winter sports industry preferred

       Ability to worked unsupervised

       Customer service and sales experience required

       Attention to detail

       Safety conscious

       Must be able to identify areas that may need improvement and have initiative to seek solutions.

       Maintain good relationships with internal staff, other store management and personnel and corporate office personnel

       Ability to work in a fast-paced retail and rental environment, multitask and manage multiple customers  

       Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, holidays, weekends and overtime.

Expected pay range begins $22.50 to $27.00 hourly Individual compensation dependent on experience and variety of factors.
