About the Role:
Join Sports Unlimited as an after-school Youth Sports Coach, where you'll inspire young athletes to develop their skills and passion for sports. We are looking for energetic and dedicated individuals to create a positive and engaging environment for youth sports in the greater Twin Cities area (e.g. Minnetonka,  Northfield, West St. Paul and Plymouth).

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and actively facilitate 1.5-hour youth sports camps for children ages 3–12 (arrive 30 mins early for set-up/check-in). Days and times vary by location:
    • 4 positions available:
      • Plymouth (Flag Football, Lacrosse, Soccer, Baseball, Basketball): Tuesday, Wednesday AND Thursday Sep 8- Oct 10
      • Plymouth (Flag Football, Lacrosse, Soccer, Baseball, Basketball): Tuesday, Wednesday AND Thursday Nov 3- Dec 10
    • 4 Positions available:
      • Northfield (Flag Football, Lacrosse, Soccer, Baseball, Pickleball): Mondays  AND Wednesdays Sep 14-Oct7 from 4:00-6PM
      • Northfield (Flag Football, Lacrosse, Soccer, Baseball, Pickleball) : Mondays AND Wednesdays Oct 19-Nov 11 from 4:00-6PM
      • Northfield (Flag Football): MEA - Oct 15 and Oct 16, 9:30AM-1:00PM for Flag Football
      • Northfield (Basketball): Winter Break: Dec 29 and Dec 30, 9:30AM-1:00PM for Basketball
    • 2 Positions available:
      • Minnetonka (Flag Football, Lacrosse, Soccer, Baseball): Must be available ALL Mondays Sep 14-Oct 5th (Sep 14, Sep 21, Sep 28, Oct 5) from 4:00-6PM
      • West St. Paul: Must be available ALL Wednesdays from Sep 16-Oct 7 (Sep 16, Sep 23, Sep 30, Oct 7) from 4:00 PM-6PM
  • Teach age-appropriate fundamental skills across various sports in a fun, engaging, and structured environment:
  • Create a positive, energetic camp atmosphere that prioritizes participation, confidence-building, and sportsmanship
  • Plan and execute daily activities including warm-ups, skill stations, drills, and small-sided games (we provide a guide for each of our activities/sports but want coaches to be creative)
  • Adapt coaching style and instruction to meet the developmental needs of different age groups and skill levels
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants by maintaining close supervision and following all camp policies and procedures
  • Manage group behavior using positive reinforcement, clear expectations, and consistent routines
  • Lead transitions between activities smoothly to maximize engagement and minimize downtime
  • Communicate effectively with campers, fellow staff, and parents/guardians as needed
  • Set up and clean up equipment before and after each session
  • Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating enthusiasm, teamwork, and professionalism at all times
  • Respond appropriately to minor injuries, conflicts, or behavioral challenges in alignment with camp guidelines
  • Collaborate with other coaches to deliver a cohesive and high-quality camp experience
Requirements:
  • Previous coaching, playing or teaching experience in youth sports or summer camps preferred
  • Babysitting, camp counselor experience, VBS, and other youth instruction experiences are also great
  • Strong knowledge of various sports.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.
  • First Aid and CPR certification is a plus.
  • Passion for sports and youth development.
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Ability to work the posted dates and times in the location hired
  • Must pass background check
