Job Type Faculty Position Title Assistant Professor - Tenure Track Appointment Department of Kinesiology, Sports Studies, and Physical Education (Exercise Science) Position Number F00073 Department Kinesiology,Sports Studies & Physical Education Location Morehouse College - Atlanta GA Position Summary
The Department of Kinesiology, Sports Studies, and Physical Education at Morehouse College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Kinesiology, Sports Studies, and Physical Education to begin August 1, 2027. The successful candidate will contribute to the continued development of our undergraduate Kinesiology, Sports Studies, and Physical Education curriculum and help advance Morehouse College's mission through teaching, scholarship, and service. The individual hired will be expected to teach courses in Kinesiology and physical education, along with general education courses. Additional responsibilities include advising and mentoring students majoring in Kinesiology, Sports Studies, and Physical Education, contributing to curriculum development, and engaging in scholarly work and institutional service. This position is part of a faculty expansion approved by the Morehouse College Board of Trustees and Office of the Provost for academic year 2027-2028. Dr. Claude P. Hutto, Sr., Dean of the Division of Professional and Continuing Studies, will serve as Chair of the Search Committee.
Required Qualifications
Earned doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Kinesiology, Physical Education, or a closely related field.
ABD candidates will be considered with a clear path to completion by August 2027.
Demonstrated ability to teach effectively at the undergraduate level.
Evidence of an emerging or established scholarly research agenda in sports management, leadership, or related fields.
Commitment to mentoring undergraduate students, including those from underrepresented backgrounds.
Interest in curriculum development and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Experience or interest in securing external funding is preferred.

Teach undergraduate courses in Kinesiology, Sports Studies, and Physical Education and related areas.
Teach general education courses as assigned by the department and in alignment with the College's core curriculum.
Advise and mentor students majoring in Kinesiology, Sports Studies, and Physical Education.
Develop new courses that align with programmatic goals and emerging trends in sports management and leadership.
Develop and maintain an active scholarly agenda.
Serve on department, division, and college-wide committees.
Contribute to institutional initiatives in general education and experiential learning.
Support the College's mission to develop men with disciplined minds who will lead lives of leadership and service.
