Job description

Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology invites applicationsfor the position of Head Softball Coach. Consistently ranked No. 1 among U.S.engineering colleges by U.S. News & World Report, Rose-Hulmanrecognizes intercollegiate athletics as an essential part of a well-roundedstudent experience. This position provides an opportunity to lead and grow acollegiate softball program while cultivating a strong, positive team culturecentered on accountability, connection, and shared commitment, and mentoringstudent-athletes to achieve excellence, integrity, and inclusion both on andoff the field.

As Head Softball Coach, you will provide leadership inrecruiting and cultivate a competitive softball program that delivers apositive and impactful studentathlete experience. You will serve as a visibleambassador for the Institute, enhancing public relations and program exposurewhile preparing the team for HCAC and nonconference competition with the goalof achieving national competitiveness.

You will ensure full compliance with all NCAA, HCAC, andInstitute policies while planning and directing comprehensive team andindividual training programs. Responsibilities include leading team practicesand conditioning sessions; evaluating studentathlete performance; determiningcompetitive participation; scouting opponents; developing game strategies; andsupervising an Assistant Coach. You will also collaborate closely with athletictrainers and departmental staff, including equipment, sports information, andfacilities personnel.

In this role, you will lead all aspects of recruiting byidentifying, evaluating, and managing prospective studentathletes through acomprehensive, yearround recruitment strategy. This includes conductingofficial and unofficial visits; evaluating high school, club, and collegiateprograms domestically and internationally; and finalizing athlete selectionsaligned with program goals and institutional values.

As an integral contributor to student success, you willsupport studentathletes' academic achievement, facilitate connections withcampus and departmental resources, and serve as a departmental spokespersonwhile providing leadership within the local community and beyond. You will alsooversee team scheduling, logistics, and extensive travel planning, includingtransportation of studentathletes and equipment.

You will manage the program's budget, ensuring fiscalresponsibility while making purchasing recommendations to the AthleticDirector. Through consistent communication and engagement, you will cultivaterelationships with alumni and supporters and collaborate with the Office ofInstitutional Advancement to support fundraising efforts. As Head SoftballCoach, you will model exemplary sportsmanship, professionalism, and ethicalconduct in alignment with the mission and values of RoseHulman Institute ofTechnology.

Qualified candidates will hold a bachelor's degree in asports related field and two to three years playing and/or coaching experienceor a bachelor's degree in a non-sports related field and four to five yearsplaying and/or coaching experience. Qualified candidates will also have a validdriver's license with an acceptable MVR (motor vehicle report).

In addition to these qualifications, preferred applicantswill have a master's degree and Division III coaching experience.

Salary range is 57,000 - 69,000. Salary is competitive.A higher salary may be negotiated based on experience and qualifications.
