The City of Peoria Parks and Recreation Department is seeking motivated individuals to fill a variety of field maintenance positions within our Neighborhood Parks team, Community Parks team, and the Peoria Sports Complex (home of the Seattle Mariners and San Diego Padres). These roles range from entry-level to skilled positions. Depending on qualifications and experience, employees will perform a range of duties related to professional baseball field preparation and turf maintenance.
Typical responsibilities may include:
  • Preparing and maintaining professional baseball fields, facilities, and amenities using a variety of hand and power tools, such as edgers and weed eaters
  • Assisting with field reconditioning, including work on mounds, home plates, base paths, and infield edges
  • Painting fields, including foul lines and logos
  • Performing general maintenance tasks such as leaf removal, dugout cleaning, and litter control
  • Assisting with the application of drying materials
  • Helping pull and manage infield tarps during inclement weather
  • Performing general facility cleaning

The ideal candidate for this position will have:
  • A basic understanding of field maintenance practices and the ability to follow standard procedures and written instructions
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact comfortably with facility users and team personnel
  • Interest in a flexible, part-time schedule of approximately 20-25 hours per week
  • Availability to work varied schedules, including nights and weekends, depending on assignment
  • A strong commitment to safety, punctuality, teamwork, and a solid work ethic
  • The ability to work effectively in high-traffic public areas
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong self-motivation
  • An understanding that, while field and turf maintenance are the primary focus, cross-functional support may be required based on operational needs
