Job Summary: The Sacramento Kings are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Communications Intern to support the Corporate and Basketball Communications teams. This role provides hands-on experience across a variety of communications functions, including writing and editing, media monitoring, research, and day-to-day departmental support.The ideal candidate is a strong writer and communicator who is organized, resourceful, and eager to learn in a collaborative, fast-paced professional sports environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with drafting and editing press releases, media advisories, talking points, and other communications materials.
  • Maintain and update media lists and contact information.
  • Monitor media coverage and compile daily media clips and relevant news.
  • Conduct research to support corporate and basketball communications initiatives.
  • Provide administrative and operational support to the Communications teams, including scheduling, coordinating materials, and assisting with department-related tasks and errands.
  • Support Communications team activities surrounding games, events, announcements, and other organizational initiatives, as needed.
  • Collaborate with team members on special projects and other assignments.
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to grammar, accuracy, and detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and maintain composure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive, dependable, and willing to take initiative while working collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing a high level of service and contributing to a positive team environment.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain the highest level of confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
  • Availability to work game nights, extended hours, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.

To qualify for Kings University internships, you must be:
  • Currently enrolled in college or have graduated within the past 12 months
  • Able to commute to the Kings office in downtown Sacramento
  • Available to work up to 25 hours per week

Interns will be compensated $17.50 per hour and receive benefits such as California Paid Sick Leave, discounts on Sacramento Kings merchandise, and free parking.
