Job description

Position Summary

Our client is seeking a Master-Level Technician who can seamlessly blend electrical expertise, fabrication talent, aesthetic sensitivity, and problem-solving curiosity. This role demands more than technical competence — it requires an individual who views each car as a canvas, each part as an opportunity for innovation, and each challenge as a puzzle worth solving.

This position is ideal for someone who was a lifelong tinkerer, understands that modern cars are digital-electromechanical devices, and takes genuine pride in every detail — from relay logic to the precision of a hidden bracket.

Primary Responsibilities

Electrical Systems & Integration

  • Design, wire, and integrate custom automotive electrical systems — analog and digital — with OEM-level execution.
  • Expertly work with 12V systems, high-current circuits, and parasitic draw troubleshooting.
  • Wire logic-based circuits using Bosch-style relays, solid-state modules, and OEM harness integration.
  • Build clean, protected, and serviceable harnesses with professional routing and circuit protection.
  • Modify and reconfigure alternator systems — including ECU-controlled modern alternators and vintage generator systems.
  • Retrofit vintage systems to modern electrical standards (6V to 12V conversions, etc.).

Audio Systems & DSP Tuning

  • Design and install integrated audio systems in modern and vintage cars.
  • Execute DSP tuning using JL Audio MAX, AudioTech Fischer, and similar processors.
  • Install and fabricate enclosures for custom subwoofer and full-range speaker systems.
  • Understand and compensate for OEM audio system constraints (all-pass filters, phase issues, etc.).
  • Perform reference-based tuning with personal media libraries.

Fabrication & Craftsmanship

  • Fabricate custom brackets, panels, and assemblies in metal, plastic, and wood.
  • MIG & TIG weld as needed for daily project requirements.
  • Build from raw materials: ABS, acrylics, EPDM, metals, composites, etc.
  • Modify OEM parts with extreme precision — including plastic shaping, upholstery wrapping, and surface finishing.
  • Wrap, finish, and detail custom installations to exacting aesthetic and durability standards.

Project Planning & Documentation

  • Organize every component of a build using labeled bins, tags, and photo documentation.
  • Communicate clearly with the team and clients regarding progress, challenges, and goals.
  • Help create custom user manuals for each build, documenting non-OEM systems and integration details.
  • Follow project planning protocols to execute multi-phase builds with precision and accountability.

Required Experience & Knowledge

  • Minimum 5–10 years in advanced custom automotive work, with an emphasis on electrical systems.
  • Strong grasp of automotive relay logic, circuit design, and parasitic draw diagnostics.
  • Ability to design and install multi-amp audio systems with DSP, EQ, time-delay, and crossover logic.
  • Hands-on experience fabricating audio enclosures and integrating systems into exotic or vintage interiors.
  • Extensive use of multimeters, oscilloscopes, soldering/desoldering tools, and harness-building equipment.
  • Comfort working on a wide variety of vehicles — from 1950s European sports cars to modern EVs and SUVs.
