Job description

Starting pay: $13.00 USD

JOB SUMMARY:

The Sportsbook Ticket Writer is the face of our retail operation. By providing a high level of customer service to both regulars and "novice bettors", they will ensure everyone is made to feel welcome at our sports book(s). As an expert in our menu of sports betting options, the Ticket Writer will help advice and answer customer questions to help them make an informed, responsible decision with their sports wagering.

ESSENTIAL DUITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (May include, but is not limited to the following) 

  • Provide a high level of customer service to anyone who comes into our sportsbooks 

  • Adhere to all rules and regulations set forth by the company and the Nevada Gaming Control Board 

  • Answer all customer questions to the best of your knowledge or seek to find out the answer in a timely manner 

  • Try to deescalate customer disputes/complaints and escalate to direct supervisor when needed 

  • Communicate and promote our menu of sports betting options to customers 

  • Ensure all necessary compliance (Title 31) paperwork/documentation is filled out according to Company policy and gaming control board standards 

  • Exemplify our core values, family style service, our mission and vision

  • Exemplify our DEI (diversity, equity, inclusion) culture

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • The ability to sit/stand for extended periods at a time 
  • Must have basic computer knowledge (Email, MS Excel, internet, etc.) 
  • Must be 21 years of age or older   
  • obtain a gaming license 
  • Must have 1+ years of cash handling experience 
  • High level of customer service 
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal 
  • Ability to do simple math 
  • Understanding and a responsibility to adhere to all compliance requirements set for by the company and Nevada Gaming Control Board 
  • Prior work experience in a sports book is highly preferred
  • Ability to motivate, lead, and mentor staff members 
  • Self-starter attitude who shows initiative
  • High School diploma or equivalent 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT (May be required in order to perform the essential functions of the position)

  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time 
  • Must be able to lift, pull, or push 25 lbs. 
  • Must be able write for extended periods of time 
  • Must be able to twist, bend, or reach with no significant boundaries 
  • This position may be exposed to a smoke-filled and noisy environment

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must have the ability to provide internal/ external guests with service excellence, have excellent communication skills and observation skills, and have an easygoing demeanor to ensure a fun and safe environment for our guests. Above average speech - both speaking and reading/writing English. Need excellent interpersonal skills. Work requires schedule flexibility which may include days off, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
