Job Summary/Primary Purpose: The Recreation & Sports Attendant is responsible for ensuring a clean, safe and fun environment for guests along with providing accurate check-in and out documentation of the patrons in the recreation and sports areas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Proactively and consistently engage with guests to provide an excellent experience in the program area.
  • Promote a culture in which excellent customer hospitality thrives, all guests feel welcome, and events and programming are well attended.
  • Responsible for the cleaning, equipment support, and inventory management of the program area in which they are assigned.
  • Assure any emergency response follows TSA policy and clear and concise documentation is completed.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all general and department safety rules.
  • Considerately and patiently enforce Kroc Center established rules and regulations.
  • Report abnormal situations and be able to communicate and respond to any signs of danger in a calm and effective manner.
  • Assist all Recreation & Sports Specialists in executing programming to include coaching, officiating, and other tasks as assigned.
  • Assist with tracking statistical information and proactively provide summary information and reports to management as required.
  • Ensure all safety standards are met and maintain certifications performing all in service requirements and attending all department meetings.
  • Actively participate in community events and outreach to effectively promote utilization of the Kroc Center as assigned by the Kroc Officers.
  • Recreation & Sports Attendants will provide coverage in the Health & Fitness and Aquatics areas as assigned.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.
  • Experience working with adults, youth and children.
  • Working knowledge of general safety guidelines in a sport and/or recreation environment preferred.

Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.

  • Good communication skills including interpersonal skills.
  • English proficiency required; Spanish language skills helpful.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Exceptional flexibility and ability to work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to collaborate and work within a team.
  • Attention to detail, creative problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters
  • Strong independent judgement.
  • General computer knowledge is required to access payroll, timekeeping and personal data via a web-based system.

Other Qualifications: Must pass all applicable background checks.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Cardiovascular Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR/AED/First Aid) certification is required within the first 90 days of employment and must be maintained on a bi-yearly basis.
  • Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training as established by The Salvation Army.

Other physical requirements include good speaking, hearing and vision ability, and excellent manual dexterity. Ability to stand, bend and reach for extended periods of time, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate equipment. This position will require the ability to lift and/or move more than 50 pounds occasionally.

Working Conditions: The majority of the workday will be in a mixed environment including offices, service counters, and other program spaces. In addition, portions of the primary work facility may be considered humid (outdoor fields, areas) while other locations (gymnasium, fitness decks and fitness studios) may be considered moderately loud in nature.

The pay rate for this position is $15.00 per hour.
