Seasonal Assistant Groundskeeper Birmingham Barons | Birmingham, AL | Seasonal, Full-Time | Non-Exempt
The Birmingham Barons, the Double-A Affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, are searching for a Seasonal Assistant Groundskeeper to join the grounds staff for the 2026 season. As an Assistant Groundskeeper, you will work directly with the Head Groundskeeper on all field maintenance and game preparation. General responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Maintenance of all skinned areas, bullpens, warning track, and all turf areas
  • Assist with granular and foliar fertilizer applications and pesticide treatments
  • Prepare field for batting practice, tear down, and pre/post-game duties
  • Schedule game day staff and manage assigned duties
  • Perform cultural practices such as aerification, verticutting, and top dressing
  • Assist with stadium operations duties as needed
  • Support maintenance and proper storage of all grounds equipment

Qualifications:
  • Must be hard working, self-motivated, and able to work in a variety of weather conditions and extremes
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Turf Management or related field preferred, but not required
  • Must be able to move quickly throughout the stadium, lift up to 50 lbs repetitively, and stand for extended periods
  • Must maintain a professional appearance and demeanor in a professional sports environment
