What is a spooler?

A spooler is a software program or a person responsible for managing the order and flow of jobs, such as print tasks, to devices like printers or plotters. In the context of software, a spooler queues tasks sent from computers, ensuring they are processed sequentially and efficiently by the hardware. For example, a print spooler manages print jobs so multiple documents sent to a printer are organized and printed in the correct order. In some industrial or textile settings, a spooler may refer to a worker who winds thread, wire, or other materials onto spools for further processing or distribution. The specific duties of a spooler can vary depending on the industry and the context in which the term is used.
