Position Overview
The System Security Engineer (SSE) provides cybersecurity and system security engineering support across complex defense systems and programs. This role partners closely with customers, program management, and engineering teams to define security requirements, architect secure solutions, ensure compliance with DoD and NIST standards, and support system development, integration, and accreditation activities.

Key Responsibilities
• Interface directly with customers to define System Security Engineering (SSE) requirements, solutions, trade studies, cost impacts, implementation strategies, and system effectiveness
• Develop security plans, cost estimates, execution strategies, schedules, and risk identification and mitigation plans
• Ensure system compliance with NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) controls and DoD cybersecurity requirements
• Consult and support program management on SSE architecture, design decisions, and security issues
• Support proposal and bid development as a cybersecurity and information assurance subject matter expert
• Define and support the implementation and testing of security controls for: o Networking devices
o Databases
o Operating systems
o Hardware and software components
• Integrate cybersecurity development activities across system lifecycles
• Develop top level system security requirements and flow requirements to subsystems
• Ensure understanding of and compliance with DoD technology release and export licensing policies

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
• 8+ years of relevant professional experience
• Active and transferable U.S. Secret security clearance required prior to start date
• U.S. citizenship required (security clearance eligibility)
• Experience in System Security Engineering and/or Cybersecurity Engineering
• Hands on experience implementing NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF)

Preferred Qualifications
• Prior managerial or technical leadership experience
• Experience using security toolsets such as: o Anti virus solutions
o Vulnerability assessment tools
o HIDS / NIDS
o Endpoint or host based security solutions
o Multi Factor Authentication (MFA)
o Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools (Splunk preferred)
• Linux Bash or Python scripting experience
• Security systems engineering experience supporting: o Stand alone systems
o LAN/WAN connected environments
• DoDI 8570.01 M IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+, CISSP, or equivalent)
• Vulnerability analysis experience across multiple operating systems used by Intelligence or DoD agencies
• Experience securing UNIX, Windows, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and Cisco based environments
• Knowledge of Systems Engineering requirements and specifications
• Experience implementing DoD and Federal IA Certification & Accreditation (C&A) processes and maintaining compliance documentation
• Familiarity with Program Protection Plans (PPP) per DoDI 5000.02 and DoDI 5200.39
• Experience supporting U.S. Government contract proposals as an Information Assurance or Cybersecurity Engineer SME
