Overview
Imagine stepping into a role where your work does not just tackle communication and swallowing challenges, but actively unleashes potential and re-establishes confidence. Here in one of Georgia's most picturesque regions, as a dedicated Speech Language Pathologist, you'll play a significant part in connecting people - from the toddlers grasping their first words to the elderly reclaiming their independence.
This extraordinary position allows you to cater to a diverse age range, in a dynamic environment that harmonizes outpatient therapies and occasional inpatient support. Whether your interests lie in pediatric language acquisition, neurogenic communication disorders in adults, or cognitive-linguistic rehabilitation for seniors, a fulfilling and flexible opportunity awaits you.
Description
  • Assess patients from pediatric to geriatric stages utilizing both standardized tests and observational methods.
  • Craft personalized treatment strategies targeting both short-term objectives and long-term communication, cognitive, or swallowing requirements.
  • Deliver one-on-one speech therapy focused on communication, language acquisition, fluency, voice modulation, and swallowing rehabilitation.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary professionals - from physical and occupational therapists to nurses and physicians, as well as family members - to ensure a unified approach to patient care.
  • Provide education to patients and their families, empowering them to continue progress beyond the clinical environment.
  • Occasionally perform inpatient speech evaluations and therapy sessions, maintaining a seamless care experience for patients on their treatment journey.
  • Keep detailed and accurate documentation in accordance with state, federal, and organizational standards.
  • Engage in continual professional development through ongoing education and collaborative learning with peers.
Education
  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from a recognized institution.
  • Completion of a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if ASHA certification has not been attained.
Certifications
  • State licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist.
  • ASHA's Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) is highly desired.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire.
Skills
  • Expertise in evidence-based therapeutic interventions for all age groups, alongside a thorough understanding of developmental as well as acquired speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to tailor therapy methods to respect and meet varied cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Sound clinical judgment coupled with excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records and documentation processes.
Benefits
  • Competitive salary proportional to experience.
  • Flexible working hours promoting a healthy work-life balance and diverse caseloads.
  • Opportunities for specialization in pediatrics, adult rehabilitation, or geriatrics.
  • Paid time off (PTO) and holiday benefits.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans.
  • Financial support for continuing education and professional growth.
  • Supportive, team-oriented atmosphere dedicated to quality patient care and continued learning.

A Career That Takes You Places - Both Professionally and Personally
In this role, you will not only provide therapy but also contribute to a mission rooted in creating connections that extend beyond mere communication - a mission to bring joy back into the lives of others through understanding and expression.
You'll collaborate with professionals who value teamwork over competition, where every patient is seen as a unique individual, and you will be empowered to influence their narrative.
Why You'll Love Living and Working in Georgia
Augusta, Georgia, combines rich history with modern living - a place where Southern charm meets vibrant progress. Situated along the Savannah River, this region offers a diverse tapestry of natural beauty and urban amenities, making it an ideal backdrop for both work-life and adventure.
Families splash in nearby lakes or gather at community festivals celebrating food, art, and tradition. Outdoor enthusiasts will delight in the expansive green spaces, beautiful parks, and renowned golfing venues, while culinary aficionados can indulge in everything from farm-to-table cafes to eclectic food markets brimming with local flavors and artisanal products.
The local arts scene thrives with theaters, galleries, and cultural events celebrating the talents of the community. And for professionals, the advantages here extend beyond living conditions - a healthy job market coupled with an affordable cost of living ensures your career flourishes in this supportive environment.
Whether you're just beginning your journey or are an experienced pathologist ready for your next adventure, this region is ripe with opportunities for growth on both personal and professional levels.
Who We're Seeking
We're in search of a Speech Language Pathologist who is inspired not only by results but also by the profound impact of empathy. You may be someone who looks at a reserved child and imagines a future filled with expression, or a professional who hears the hesitant words from a stroke survivor and sees a strong spirit waiting to emerge.
You might specialize in pediatric cases but are ready to expand into adult care - or you may bring expertise from neuro rehabilitation while seeking to enhance your skills with early intervention.
Regardless of your background, if you're eager to serve with compassion and lead with expertise, we are excited to welcome you to our mission.
Let's Communicate the Possibilities - Together
If you perceive that communication transcends mere words, and therapy is rooted in trust and understanding - if you believe that joy is as essential as progress - then this could be the perfect fit for your next career chapter.
