Logistics & Expediting Manager

Key responsibilities

  • Own inbound logistics, freight, and delivery scheduling for major equipment on data center builds.

  • Coordinate and expedite critical-path items such as transformers, switchgear, generators, and chillers to ensure timely site energization.

  • Manage freight forwarders, carriers, and heavy-haul specialists, and resolve shipping issues promptly.

Job description

ABOUT HUT 8

Imagine the ultimate destination for those who want to work at the cutting edge of technology, energy, and infrastructure. Hut 8 is on a mission to build and operate some of the world's largest data centers for next-generation computing workloads, including AI, Colocation, Cloud, and Bitcoin Mining. We are proud to offer interesting and challenging opportunities for individuals who want to build teams, solve problems, and make an impact from day one. If you're an ambitious individual looking for a career that is as rewarding as it is challenging, you've come to the right place.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Logistics & Expediting Manager owns inbound logistics, freight, and delivery scheduling for major equipment on Hut 8's data center builds - and expedites the critical-path items that decide whether we energize on time. Transformers, switchgear, generators, and chillers are the longest levers in the schedule; this role makes sure they show up when the site needs them, intact, with no surprises.

Some of the key responsibilities you should expect are the following:

Logistics Planning & Heavy Haul

Own the inbound logistics plan for major equipment: transformers, MV/LV switchgear, generators, chillers, CDUs, and UPS systems. Plan heavy-haul routing and permits, escort and police coordination, bridge/road studies where needed, rigging and offload interfaces, and site delivery windows aligned to crane and laydown availability.

Vendor Expediting

Run structured expediting on critical-path POs: factory production milestone tracking, in-person or third-party factory visits, FAT scheduling coordination, and ship-date protection. Provide early warning the moment a vendor date is at risk - with a recovery option, not just the bad news.

Freight & Carrier Management

Select and manage freight forwarders, carriers, and heavy-haul specialists. Manage freight terms, insurance requirements, and OS&D claims; handle customs brokerage and import compliance for international equipment where applicable.

Delivery Scheduling & Site Coordination

Maintain the rolling delivery lookahead with the Materials Manager, superintendents, and planner/scheduler. Sequence deliveries against installation need dates and site constraints, and referee conflicts when multiple critical loads compete for the same window.

Issue Resolution

Resolve shipping damage, shortage, mis-delivery, and storage-in-transit issues fast, with clean documentation supporting claims and vendor accountability.

Reporting & Process

Report logistics status, risks, and expediting actions into the weekly project rhythm. Build Hut 8's logistics playbook: preferred carriers, routing lessons, and delivery requirements baked into future POs.

ABOUT YOU

-      What we're looking for:

- 6+ years in project logistics, traffic, or expediting for major capital projects - data center, power generation, oil & gas, or heavy industrial.

- Hands-on heavy-haul experience: permits, routing studies, escorts, and rigging interfaces for loads in the 100k-500k+ lb class.

- Vendor expediting depth: factory milestone tracking, FAT logistics, and holding OEMs accountable to ship dates.

- Freight commercial fluency: Incoterms, carrier contracts, cargo insurance, and claims.

- Customs/import experience for international equipment a plus.

- Strong scheduling instincts and comfort working directly against a P6-driven need-date list.

- Calm, solution-first operator when a load is stuck, damaged, or late.

- Proficiency with logistics tracking tools and Excel; ERP exposure a plus.

- Travel to factories, ports, and project sites as needed (typically 25-40%).

ABOUT THE WORK ENVIRONMENT

This role is full-time on site.
