Job Overview
Are you passionate about food, hospitality, and sharing the joy of cooking with others? Spicewalla is a chef-driven spice company based out of Asheville NC, known for fresh, small-batch spices and gifts, and an ever-changing treasure trove of pantry staples and snacks. We are excited to open a new retail location in Historic Georgetown. We will be joining our Chai Pani Restaurant Group sister restaurants: Chai Pani DC and upcoming Botiwalla Georgetown, in the neighborhood. We are looking for a friendly, enthusiastic, hands-on General Store Manager to lead and inspire our new team in DC. The General Manager will play a key role in the store's staffing, merchandising, inventory management, and community engagement.
Responsibilities:
  • Foster a work environment to uphold our company standards for mind-blasting customer experience, and a caring, loving community
  • Oversee daily operations, staff scheduling, product ordering, receiving and cycle counts, overall store presentation, including cleanliness and merchandising
  • Collaborate with the sales & marketing teams on sales, product launches, and growth opportunities
  • Create rotating retail displays centered around storytelling, themes, and product launches, and work with the design team for in-store signage and promotional materials
  • Maintain a strong understanding of Spicewalla spices and recipe ideas, as well as other Non-Spicewalla Pantry items carried in store.
  • Plan seasonal themed events at the store - including sampling, pop-ups, and local collaborations to increase community engagement and store foot traffic.

Qualifications:
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends and holidays, 5 days/week, averaging 40 hours/week
  • 2+ years of retail management or hospitality experience. Merchandising experience is a plus.
  • Highly organized and able to multitask
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Able to lift boxes (up to 50lb) and be on your feet for an entire shift.
  • A genuine love of food, cooking, and people!
