Definition: Under the supervision of the Visitor Services Manager, performs a wide variety of visitor services including public contact, information, sales, security, and assistance with administrative duties. Evening and weekend hours are required.
Principal Duties: • Serve as primary customer service contact by greeting the public, answering front desk
phone, promoting Museum activities, and providing general information about Museum exhibits, programs, and events.
• Conduct retail sales transactions. • Assist the public through knowledgeable and tactful questioning.
• Perform data entry of box office ticket sales and program registrations for phone and walk-in enrollments. Maintain/update reference binders, record data of daily museum visitation, manage Teacher Trunk rentals, and prepare bulk mailings.
• Schedule tours for school and community groups. • Open, close and secure the Museum and assist staff with preparation for special events. • Work in partnership with other front desk receptionists and facility managers. Attend and
participate in staff meetings and/or trainings. • Maintain a clean and orderly front entrance. • Check galleries periodically to encourage proper guest behavior throughout the shift.
Reset and prepare galleries for guests at the end of each shift. • Prevent guests from leaving facility with open alcohol. • Address renter requests and questions as needed. • Observe, follow and enforce established policies and procedures for Visitor Services. • Performs essential duties and additional tasks in a manner which enhances City
Attributes.
Working Environment: Work is generally performed in standard office environment. Frequent use of technical office equipment including personal computer, document preparation equipment and telephones. May involve the ability to move 15 -20 pounds, mobility through diverse work environments, and frequent exposure to stress associated with varied and complex tasks. May be required to work long or non-traditional hours to fulfill organizational needs, projects, or special circumstances. Exposure to frequent interruptions.
Qualifications: Experience as a receptionist or general office experience working with the public. Proficiency and speed in using personal computer and working knowledge of data entry and word processing. Must be a minimum of 21 years of age. First Aid, CPR/AED certifications desired.
