JOB LOCATION: Dahlgren, VA
JOB STATUS: Full Time
CLEARANCE: Secret
SALARY: $120,000 to $145,000
Astrion has an opening for an Engineer/Scientist (Radar Systems Engineer - Spectrum) supporting the U.S. Navy's SPY-6 Radar Program located on-site at Naval Support Facility Dahlgren in Dahlgren, VA.
REQUIRED SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics
  • Must have a current DoD Secret security clearance or be able to obtain and maintain a minimum DoD Secret clearance.
  • Engineering degrees must be from a school with at least one ABET-accredited professional engineering curriculum.
  • Four to six years of relevant engineering or scientific experience; advanced education may be considered toward the experience requirement.
  • Experience applying systems engineering principles to complex radar, sensor, electronic warfare, combat-system, or similarly complex technical systems.
  • Experience with requirements development, decomposition, allocation, traceability, system specifications, and interface definition.
  • Experience applying Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methods and tools to system architecture, requirements management, or design activities.
  • Experience conducting engineering analyses involving radar systems, RF systems, spectrum engineering, or electromagnetic systems.
  • Experience preparing engineering reports, technical analyses, and presentations.
  • Must be able to work on-site at Naval Support Facility Dahlgren.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

PREFERRED SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS
  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, or another related STEM discipline.
  • Experience supporting the SPY-6 radar program or another advanced naval radar program.
  • Experience with radar systems engineering, spectrum engineering, RF analysis, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), or electronic warfare.
  • Experience with radar signal processing, waveform development, clutter management, or electronic protection.
  • Experience using MATLAB, MBSE tools (e.g., Cameo Systems Modeler, MagicDraw, Rhapsody), or other engineering-analysis tools.
  • Experience supporting Navy or Department of Defense acquisition, systems engineering, or research and development programs.
  • Experience supporting model verification, validation, and accreditation activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support systems engineering activities for the SPY-6 radar program throughout the system lifecycle.
  • Develop, decompose, allocate, and manage radar system and subsystem requirements across hardware and software.
  • Develop and maintain system specifications, requirements baselines, capability documents, and interface control documents.
  • Evaluate the completeness, consistency, traceability, and technical compliance of radar system and interface requirements.
  • Apply Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) processes, methods, and tools to support system architecture, requirements management, design analysis, and technical decision-making.
  • Perform technical analyses supporting radar architecture, interoperability, spectrum engineering, and system performance.
  • Develop engineering models and analytical tools used to predict, assess, and verify radar-system performance.
  • Support model verification, validation, and accreditation activities by evaluating model fidelity and comparing modeled results with system data.
  • Participate in radar, combat-system, and platform integration activities.
  • Support engineering analyses associated with radar spectrum management, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), electronic protection, waveform development, clutter management, and signal-processing performance.
  • Support focused integration and test activities, analyze engineering data using MATLAB and laboratory tools, and document technical results.
  • Prepare technical reports, engineering assessments, briefings, and recommendations for Government program managers and technical stakeholders.
