Job Summary:
GalaxE.Solutions is seeking a skilled and proactive System Administrator II to aid in the management, maintenance, and upgrade of their IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring high availability, performance, and security of servers, networks, and systems, while providing technical and operational support.
Responsibilities:
• Infrastructure Management: Install, configure, and maintain desktop operating systems (Windows/Apple), servers, virtual environments (VMware) and have working knowledge of network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, wireless). Setup and support of VoIP (Spectrum) users and phones. Experience with Palo Alto, Juniper, Dell, and Cisco a plus.
• Azure/EntraID/Microsoft 365/Intune: Have strong experience with Azure infrastructure, support and troubleshooting. Will assist in designing, deploying, and support of Azure environments to support applications and infrastructure.
• Docker/Container Experience: Have working knowledge of containerization technologies to assist in support, developing applications strategies.
• System Monitoring & Performance: Proactively monitor system performance (PRTG, Azure), analyze logs, and implement performance tuning to optimize efficiency. Ability to respond right away to critical alerts and communicate effectively.
• Security & Data Protection: Ensure system security through access controls, user account management (Active Directory/Azure AD), antivirus (Sophos) protection, and patching. Follows best practices guidelines and assists to maintain SOC and other regulatory compliance.
• Backup & Recovery: Assist in monitoring regular data backups and maintain, test, and execute disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity. Veeam experience preferred.
• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues promptly to minimize downtime.
• Automation & Scripting: Develop/understand scripts (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python) to automate routine tasks and improve efficiency.
• Documentation: Maintain/Develop comprehensive technical documentation, including network diagrams, SOPs, and system configurations.
• Collaboration & Support: Collaborate with internal IT peers to implement new technologies and provide high-level support for end-users.
Qualifications:
Required:
• 5+ years of experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator, or similar role.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Proficiency in Windows Server (2016/2019/2022), Windows Desktop (10/11). MacOS and Linux (Ubuntu) environments a plus.
• Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, VoIP).
• Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware vSphere/ESXi) and cloud platforms (Azure).
• Proficiency in scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, or Python) for automation.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred:
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or MCSE
• CompTIA Network+ or Security+
• VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
