J.P. Morgan Asset & Wealth Management delivers industry-leading investment management and private banking solutions. Wealth Management helps individuals, families and foundations take a more intentional approach to their wealth or finances to better define, focus and realize their goals. J.P. Morgan Private Advisory is a cross-disciplinary group of over 100 global specialists within the Private Bank who collaborate to deliver innovative and forward-thinking strategies, working closely with advisors to help clients make well-informed decisions and achieve their goals. 

The Senior Tax Strategist will join the Tax Strategy team within J.P. Morgan Private Advisory and report directly to the Head of Tax Strategy. This individual will be expected to develop and deliver thought leadership, insights, and advice to advisors, clients and prospects on tax-efficient wealth structuring techniques and strategies used across the high net worth wealth spectrum. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Engage directly with clients and prospects who have complex tax and wealth structuring situations, in conjunction with their primary private banking coverage team and external advisors, to find or develop bespoke solutions to address their needs.
  • Author or contribute to timely thought leadership to be shared with clients and prospects.
  • Participate in and present at internal and external forums to share wealth planning advice that helps our clients better leverage the solutions available to them.
  • Work with partners across both the Private Bank and the firm to develop tax-efficient solutions and strategies addressing our clients' changing needs.
  • Support clients and internal partners with deep knowledge of legislative, legal, and regulatory issues and changes that affect the structures and strategies high net worth clients often employ.
  • Educate internal partners and Private Bank advisors on foundational tax concepts and the tax-efficient investments.
  • Build and maintain a strong professional network with external tax and legal advisors who work with our clients and prospects
  • Demonstrate expertise in the tax implications and structuring of a wide range of investment products, including equities, fixed income securities, derivatives, structured notes, private placements, and alternative investments with an emphasis on solutions relevant to high net worth clients.

Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree required; JD or CPA 
  • 5 years+ of work experience in an analytically demanding role in the financial services industry, preferably in asset or wealth management, or in related, specialized professional services firms
  • Knowledge of investment products, income taxes, transfer taxes and estate planning, as well as related fields of law, for high net worth individuals 
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player
  • Hard working with ability to perform under pressure and multitask
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with impeccable attention to detail
  • Good listening and questioning skills in order to provide strategic advice
  • Microsoft Office suite experience is required 
  • Willingness to travel as needed (10%)
