Technical Service Representative - Mechanical & Electronic Troubleshooting


Standard Day Shift | Monday-Friday

Spectra Precision is seeking an experienced, hands-on technician who enjoys diagnosing problems, fixing equipment, and supporting customers in the field. This role is ideal for candidates with a strong mechanical troubleshooting background and working knowledge of electronics who want a stable Monday-Friday schedule and the opportunity to work with high-precision equipment.

Our mission is to help customers work efficiently and effectively on the job site. As part of our Technical Service team, you'll support our dealer network and end users by repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting Spectra Precision products while delivering reliable, high-quality service.


Position Overview

The Technical Service Representative is responsible for diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electronic issues in Spectra Precision products. This role combines hands-on repair work with customer and dealer support, making it well-suited for technicians who enjoy problem-solving, precision work, and continuous learning.

Schedule:
Standard daytime shift
Monday through Friday
On-site, collaborative team environment


Primary Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical and electronic issues across Spectra Precision product lines
  • Complete repairs within established turnaround times while maintaining high quality and accuracy
  • Read, interpret, and follow repair manuals, technical documentation, service guidelines, and specifications
  • Perform mechanical adjustments, component replacement, calibration, and functional testing
  • Maintain cosmetic and functional standards to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Accurately document repairs performed, troubleshooting steps taken, and quality assurance results
  • Record part numbers used and quantities consumed during repairs
  • Participate in ongoing technical training, including classroom instruction and hands-on bench training
  • Support and facilitate instructor-led technical training for dealers and customers as needed
  • Meet or exceed established productivity and quality performance metrics
  • Maintain consistent daily on-site attendance to support team operations

Requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • 2+ years of experience as a technician in a relevant industry (i.e. electronic, mechanical, auto)
  • 2 year technical degree or equivalent experience
  • High school graduate
  • Experience with diagnosing and repairing electromechanical devices
  • Familiar with basic electric theory and electronic test equipment
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Capability of understanding and following written guidelines and requirements for supporting and servicing Spectra Precision products
  • Ability of working independently
  • Computer competencies including the use of databases, support tools, the Microsoft Office Suites
  • Knowledge of Salesforce.com a plus
  • Phone skills, being able to explain repair steps or laser setup over the phone
  • Experience conducting instructor-led technical training seminars
