What is a Speclink?

Speclink is not typically a job title, but rather the name of a software tool used in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industries for creating, managing, and editing construction specifications. A person working with Speclink is usually a specifications writer, architect, or construction professional who uses the platform to streamline the specification process, ensure project consistency, and maintain up-to-date documentation. Their responsibilities may include developing detailed project specifications, collaborating with design teams, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards. Familiarity with Speclink software is valuable for improving efficiency and accuracy in construction documentation.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Speclink specialist?

To thrive as a SpecLink Specialist, you need strong knowledge of construction specifications, building codes, and architectural documentation, often backed by experience in architecture, engineering, or construction management. Familiarity with BSD SpecLink software, Microsoft Office Suite, and related project management tools is typically required. Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for coordinating with project teams and ensuring accurate documentation. These abilities are vital for producing precise, compliant specifications that support successful construction projects.

What are some common challenges Speclink users face when collaborating on construction specifications, and how can these be addressed?

When using Speclink for construction specification writing, team members often encounter challenges such as maintaining version control, ensuring consistent terminology, and managing input from multiple stakeholders. These can be addressed by establishing clear workflow protocols, using Speclink's built-in collaboration and revision tracking features, and scheduling regular review meetings to align all contributors. By leveraging the platform's tools and fostering open communication, teams can streamline the specification process and reduce errors.

RIB Core Account Manager- Alpharetta, GA
Employment Type: Full-Time (Hybrid In Office)

RIB is looking for a motivated, high-energy Core Sales Representative to join our SpecLink sales team. This is a new business sales role focused on introducing RIB SpecLink and our broader solutions to architecture, engineering, and owners across an assigned geographic territory.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys prospecting, building relationships, learning a technology-driven solution, and owning the sales process from initial outreach through close.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the full new-business sales cycle for an assigned geographic territory, from prospecting and discovery through demonstration, proposal, negotiation, and close.

  • Develop new relationships with architecture, engineering, construction, and other AEO organizations.

  • Build and maintain a healthy pipeline through a combination of self-generated prospecting, BDR-generated opportunities, marketing leads, referrals, industry events, and local market outreach.

  • Conduct discovery conversations to understand a firm's current specification-writing process, challenges, workflows, and business objectives.

  • Demonstrate how SpecLink can improve efficiency, collaboration, coordination, and consistency throughout the specification process.

  • Maintain consistent prospecting activity through phone, email, LinkedIn, local outreach, and industry networking.

  • Work closely with the BDR team to identify target accounts, develop outreach strategies, and convert meetings into qualified opportunities.

  • Partner with Customer Experience and Training to ensure a smooth transition from new sale to onboarding and adoption.

  • Maintain accurate opportunity, activity, pipeline, and forecasting information within the CRM.

  • Follow RIB's S7 / Roadmap-to-Revenue sales methodology throughout the sales process.

  • Meet or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual new-business ARR targets.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous sales, business development, or customer-facing experience preferred.

  • Experience in SaaS, technology, architecture, engineering, construction, or the AEC industry is a plus but not required.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

  • Comfortable prospecting and developing business with new accounts.

  • Ability to learn a technical product and communicate its value in a clear, consultative way.

  • Organized and able to manage multiple opportunities at different stages of the sales cycle.

  • Strong follow-up skills and attention to detail.

  • Competitive, goal-oriented, and motivated by measurable results.

  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a collaborative sales team.

  • Coachable and interested in continued professional development.

What Success Looks Like

Successful Core Representatives don't simply wait for leads. They actively develop their territory, understand their target accounts, recognize buying signals, and create opportunities. They combine consistent outbound activity with thoughtful account research and consultative selling. They understand the customer's business problem before positioning the solution and work to build relationships beyond a single contact.

Success in this role means building a strong, qualified pipeline, progressing opportunities consistently through the sales process, accurately forecasting the business, and ultimately exceeding new-business revenue goals.

RIB may require all successful applicants to undergo and pass a comprehensive background check before they start employment. Background checks will be conducted in accordance with local laws and may, subject to those laws, include proof of educational attainment, employment history verification, proof of work authorization, criminal records, identity verification, credit check. Certain positions dealing with sensitive and/or third party personal data may involve additional background check criteria.

RIB is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We are committed to being an exemplary employer with an inclusive culture, developing a workplace environment where all our employees are treated with dignity and respect. We value diversity and the expertise that people from different backgrounds bring to our business.
