Position Summary:
The Transport Specialist will perform daily activities of making assigned specimen pickups per established departmental guidelines for the logistics department. This is the entry level in theLogisticsjob category and employees perform the full range of procedures related to the delivery of all supplies, reports and related materials to the route customer as requested.
Core Responsibilities:
Drives a vehicle topick-up, deliver, and properly store specimens and other materials with assigned route or on as needed basis
Demonstrates and promotes a positive image and communicates effectively to clients, employees and the public in general
Perform route audits and quality assurance checks of samples
Maintain knowledge of multiple routes to back up assigned drivers
Communicates appropriately with clients, coworkersand timegeneral public
Ensures all specimens are collected accurately and on time
Maintains required records and documentation of all items received and delivered
Reports on time to work, following attendance guidelines
Keeps vehicle area neat and clean; Disposes of biohazard containers when scheduled
Service vehicles driven, such as checking fluid levels and replenishing fuel; retains and submits all fuel receipts and fuel maintenance logs to the Logistics Supervisor or lead on a weekly basis
Adheres to departmental and company code of grooming and uniform policies,appearing neat and clean at all times
Assists Accessioning with incoming specimens throughout the day
Other duties as assigned by Logistics Manager or Logistics Supervisor/Lead
Education, Experience and Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent
1+ years previous driving experience preferred. Prior medical courier experience and prior customer service experience preferred.
Ability to read a map
Ability to read and write English
Valid state driver's license with clean driving record
Ability, on a consistent basis, to sit during shift, excluding meal and rest period
Ability to move and lift 50 pounds and maneuver packages of any weight above 50 pounds with appropriate equipment and/or assistance from another person
Good customer service skills required
Computer proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel desired
Must be able to work in a biohazard environment and comply with safety policies and standards outlined in the Safety Manual
