Job Title: Specimen Technician
Location: Gaithersburg, MD 20877
Duration: 04 Month Contract (Possibility of extension or conversion)
Shift: Tuesday-Saturday, 12:00 am-8:30 am
Pay Rate: $24.14/hour (W2) (Based on experience and education)
Job Summary:
The Specimen Processing Technician I is responsible for supporting laboratory operations through specimen processing, data entry, accessioning, centrifugation, aliquoting, and specimen routing. This role requires accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced production environment while maintaining quality and compliance standards.
Responsibilities:
- Process, sort, and prepare specimens for testing.
- Perform data entry with high accuracy.
- Handle specimen accessioning, centrifugation, and aliquoting.
- Follow laboratory safety, quality, and compliance procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Communicate effectively with laboratory staff and adapt to changing priorities.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Basic computer and data entry skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Previous laboratory, healthcare, or specimen processing experience preferred but not required.
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
Preferred:
- Medical terminology knowledge.
- Laboratory or hospital experience.
- Experience in a production-based environment.
