Specification information

What is a job specification?

A job specification is a detailed document that outlines the skills, qualifications, experience, and attributes required for a specific role. It helps employers define the ideal candidate and guides recruitment and selection processes. Job specifications often include educational requirements, technical skills, and personal qualities necessary for successful performance.

What is the difference between Specification vs Drafting Technician?

AspectSpecificationDrafting Technician
Primary RoleDevelops detailed technical specifications for products or projectsCreates technical drawings and plans based on specifications
Required SkillsTechnical writing, industry standards knowledge, attention to detailCAD software proficiency, drawing skills, understanding of engineering concepts
Work EnvironmentOffice-based, collaboration with engineers and designersDesign studios, manufacturing plants, construction sites
CertificationsOften requires industry-specific certifications, technical trainingCAD certifications, technical diplomas

While specifications define the detailed requirements for a product or project, drafting technicians focus on creating the visual representations of those specifications through technical drawings. Both roles are essential in the design and manufacturing process, often working closely together to ensure accuracy and clarity in project execution.
