Position Title: Fryer Operator - Specialty line

Position Type: Regular - Full-Time

About the role.

Responsible for the overall performance of the Specialty Line and the results produced with the support of the Mixer Operator and Specialty Line Sanitation.

What you'll be doing.

  • Perform Daily fryer inspections and maintain a safe risk-free environment.
  • Execute and manage a safe effective on time cleanup (sanitation/boil out) and perform all necessary inspections.
  • Understand and commit to the roles and responsibilities of the Emergency response Team.
  • Will be responsible for the operation of the various processes involved in the By-product Line, including the Peeler, Blancher, Retrograder, Fryer and other associated equipment.
  • Starts up and monitors the operation of the equipment.
  • Maintains fat, heat, and speed levels of the Fryer.
  • Monitors the operation of the Peeler, Blancher, Retrograde and adjusts as required.
  • Monitors product color, texture, shape, weight, and controls waste.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and sanitation practices in the byline area including boil-outs, 5S, and routinely scheduled tasks.
  • Provide support and relief to the Mixer Deck Operator.
  • Maintains all required documentation including entering SPC data.
  • Complete routinely scheduled sanitation tasks including high pressure washing, scrubbing, deep cleaning, waste disposal, and general housekeeping.
  • Performing required daily tests to ensure product quality, consistency, and determine equipment effectiveness. Then recording results into the designated McCain database to drive Real Time Management and support data analysis, if necessary.
  • Experience with SAP will be beneficial.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

This position is based in a regulated manufacturing environment and requires strict adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Employees must consistently follow all GMP, safety, and hygiene requirements, including restrictions on jewelry, personal items, and attire while on the production floor. Compliance with these standards is an essential duty of the role to ensure product quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.

What you'll need to be successful.

  • Must have proven history of safe work habits.
  • Familiar OCAP and basic computer skills.
  • High School Graduate
  • Able to exercise good judgment in making decisions relative to the operation of a production line.
  • Mechanically inclined and able to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment problems.
  • Experienced with the safe handling of chemicals in accordance with WHMIS.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize efficiently using effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Thorough understanding of WHMIS, plant sanitation requirements, industrial chemicals, and HACCP and AIB Gold standards.
  • Familiarity with potato receiving area is an asset.
  • Experienced with the safe handling of chemicals in accordance with WHMIS.
  • Must have strong communication skills, ability to follow detailed instructions, and be able to maintain good working relationships with Supervision and coworkers as well as ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work on a rotating shift basis.
  • Mathematical ability to perform basic calculations.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize efficiently using effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Must be willing to work in a team-based atmosphere.
  • Familiarity with in-process control testing and entering results into the designated McCain database.
  • Experienced with the safe handling of chemicals in accordance with WHMIS.
  • Must be willing to obtain Forklift License, Confined Space & Rescue, Personal Fall Protection and Scissor/Boom Lift
  • Familiarity with Statistical Process Control software (InfinityQS) and general production requirements is an asset.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to work in a high humidity, high temperature work environment.
  • Physically capable of performing job duties including lifting objects up to 40-50lbs.

Compensation Package: - Starting at 35.95 CAD hourly + Bonus eligibility + Hourly Pay Differential for applicable shifts
