At Retina Institute of Illinois, we believe in providing compassionate and conscientious retinal care to our patients, with the goal of improving eyesight and preventing loss of vision.

Established over 15 years ago, the Retina Institute of Illinois has been providing outstanding retinal care to the Chicago-land area and surrounding suburbs.

Position Summary

We are now hiring a SPD Sterile Processing Surgical Technician to assist surgeons by cleaning, sanitizing, preparing, maintaining and anticipating instrument and procedural needs for all surgical procedures in accordance to regulatory standards. Must have working knowledge of SPD protocols and regulations.

Pay Range - $23.00- $28.00/Hr.  Commensurate with experience

Responsibilities
  • Cleaning and preparation of instruments and tools for surgeons to use in surgery
  • Picking cases for Scrub techs and nurses to use with surgeons in operating room.
  • Returning supplies and equipment to the appropriate location
  • Assisting in keeping the Central Sterile area neat and orderly and assisting with stocking
  •  Effecting handling health or safety hazards for self and patients
  • Reporting any unusual occurrences or incidents accurately to the Nurse Manager or Adminsitrator
  • Performing other duties as required
Qualifications
  • 5-7 years experience
  • Maintains current BCLS certification and completion of required annual in-services
  • Ability to work in a surgery center environment with healthcare interactions that include patient contact, hazardous chemicals, and infectious disease under a moderate level of noise
  • Must be able to understand and follow instruction with speed and accuracy
  • Must be able to organize and set priority for work to be done
  • Possesses manual dexterity, mobility, visual acuity, standing, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, attendance, and good interpersonal skills
