Job description

Position Summary

The Environmental Specialist is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations across company operations and project sites. This role supports environmental permitting, monitoring, reporting, and mitigation activities while working closely with project management, construction teams, and regulatory agencies to minimize environmental risk and ensure sustainable project execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental laws and regulations (EPA, state DEP, local agencies)

  • Support environmental permitting and approvals, including:

    • Stormwater (NPDES, SWPPP)

    • Wetlands and waterways

    • Air quality and emissions

    • Waste management and hazardous materials

  • Conduct environmental inspections and site audits

  • Prepare, review, and maintain environmental plans and documentation, including:

    • SWPPP

    • SPCC

    • Environmental Management Plans (EMP)

  • Monitor erosion and sediment control measures and ensure corrective actions are implemented

  • Coordinate environmental sampling, monitoring, and reporting

  • Interface with regulatory agencies, inspectors, and consultants

  • Support incident investigations and environmental corrective action plans

  • Assist with environmental training for field and project staff

  • Track compliance metrics and prepare reports for management

  • Support environmental due diligence for new projects or acquisitions

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Biology, or a related field

  • 3+ years of experience in environmental compliance or environmental management

  • Working knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations
