Seeking an Equipment Maintenance Tech II

An Equipment Maintenance Technician II is responsible for providing installation, diagnosis, repair and preventive maintenance for manufacturing equipment and associated process supply systems.  Through proper maintenance the technician helps to improve overall effectiveness of equipment and to meet the Business Unit goals.  To accomplish this requires skills and knowledge in related technical areas which may include, but are not limited to the following: mechanical, electrical, electronic, control systems, programmable logic controls, pneumatics, vacuum technology and SPC (Statistical Process Control) knowledge. 

Job Details:

  1. Routinely apply logical thought process to effectively carry out verbal and written instructions in a safe and effective manner.
  2. Routinely apply knowledge and skills to troubleshoot and optimize effectiveness of equipment.
  3. Routinely deal with multiple job tasks and assist senior technicians in determining priority.
  4. Routinely identify sources for repair parts including from warehouse, vendors, and fabricated parts on special occasions.
  5. Utilize technical skills to install, modify, assemble and maintain equipment and associated process supply systems.
  6. Accomplish tasks by effectively connecting, routing and assembling internal/external systems & components. Including but not limited: gearboxes, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, electronic, programmable logic controls and chemical.
  7. Analyze equipment or system to determine malfunction. Decide on proper repair action. Completes repairs by removing, repairing and replacing all necessary components of the equipment or system. Discuss findings with area operators, leadership, engineers and other technicians as need to find immediate & long-term solutions.
  8. Effectively maintains all records of repairs, calibrations, tests, preventative maintenance, spare parts and procedures.
  9. Achieve certification of basic proficiency for equipment in assigned areas of responsibility. Continuously improve knowledge and skills. 
  10. Demonstrates effective housekeeping in the area of work and shop. Observes all safety rules and regulations.
  11. Acquire and maintain the necessary State/Federal licenses/certificates as needed for certain job tasks.
  12. Participates in and completes training as prescribed by corporate requirements and the immediate leadership.
  13. Assists in the training of other technicians, cell leaders, and Technical Operators.
  14. Assist in the analysis and frequently works independently in the repair and preventive maintenance.
  15. Works independently on analysis and repair and assists other levels.
  16. Occasional work required in hazardous areas involving potentially dangerous electrical power, chemicals and stored energy.
  17. Responsible for understanding the hazards in the workplace, including hazardous waste handling and awareness. Required to remain up to date on applicable trainings.

Position Requirements

Requires a High School diploma or GED, along with either a minimum of two (2) years of experience at Siltronic as a Maintenance Technician I or two to four (2–4) years in a similar role within a related industry or manufacturing environment. Candidates should have completed relevant technical training courses or seminars. Strong math and analytical skills are essential, including proficiency in basic arithmetic (Metric and English units), fractions, decimals, ratios, percentages, and algebraic equations, as well as the ability to interpret graphs and charts. Applicants must be able to read and understand engineering drawings, sketches, safety rules, operating procedures, and maintenance manuals, and be capable of writing routine reports and correspondence. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Proficiency in computer software such as DOS, Microsoft Office, SAP, and SPC (Statistical Process Control) is also necessary

  • Ability to sit / stand / walk / bend / twist / crouch / kneel / climb as required for various periods of time
  • Ability to lift/carry / push/pull up to 50 pounds
  • Required to reach, and to manipulate using hands and fingers. 
  • Frequently required to wear cleanroom attire, personal protective equipment and/or breathing devices.
