The Opportunity:
In this role you will be part of the Metrology team which is responsible for measurements and alignments of precision optics and optical assemblies. This position will expose the candidate to various spatial metrology tools, such as large and medium sized bridge type CMMs, Laser Trackers, Portable Arms, and other emerging technologies. This position affords the candidate with great hands-on experience working on unique and challenging optical systems while learning and teaming up with world-class technicians and engineers.
Responsibilities:
  • Support or lead, depending on experience, in the measurement optics in accordance with manufacturing documentation, process documentation and technical requirements
    Measuring components and aligning system integration of subassemblies.
  • Support production processes and optimize data interpretation for internal customers
  • Work with opticians, technologists and engineers in a culture of continuous improvement of processes and identify opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, throughput and first-pass yield
  • Ensure safe handling of in-process and deliverable hardware
  • Compliance to standard work requirements
  • Support full compliance to Environmental, Health and Safety requirements
  • Travel Requirements: Minimal

Qualifications:
Required:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Physics, Applied Math, or Mechanical Engineering. Other degrees of similar exposure to the math and sciences will be considered
  • Ability to work safely on sensitive, high value deliverables and equipment
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing standards and practices
  • Ability to follow manufacturing instructions in the production of optics and optical assemblies
  • Flexibility and a desire to work on a variety of manufacturing processes
  • Strong team player
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • College Lab Course work

Desired:
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, including working knowledge of GD&T
  • CMM Operating Experience
  • Familiarity with Zeiss Calypso and Spatial Analyzer software packages is a plus.
  • Ability to apply manufacturing skills in the production, inspection and test of optics and optical product
  • Familiar or expertise with machinery and optical manufacturing equipment
  • Proficiency with technical information (e.g., blueprints, process specifications and instructions)
